When you think of Santorini, this is what you imagine. Picture perfect white buildings, blue domes and a stunning turquoise sea. The views are incredible and Oia in Santorini is a beautiful town with little cobbles streets and boutique shops (along with the touristy ones). This is THE shot everyone wants so time it early in the morning - we were there around 10 from a cruise ship and the crowds got busier as the day went on - and had to wait for a couple of people to take photos, but it's worth the wait. Santorini gets packed and when we walked back past, there was a long queue just to take a photo from here.
Worth waiting for!

Probably the best place to take a picture in Oia. Brilliant place, be there early in the morning as it will get crowded very quickly. The best spot is quite hidden, it is accessed from a small alley so keep your eyes open and get into the small alleys! Beware of heights if you have kids!

I would say, that the best time to see this beauty is early morning. Everyone is either eating breakfast or the cruise ships have not docked yet. I went at 8:30 in the morning and since this was close to our accommodations, I was able to reach it in 10 minutes with no one blocking, perfection.

This is the Greek coastline you see in all the Instagram posts. Beautiful blue sea with matching white and blue buildings crammed onto the side of a hill. Postcard perfect you think, until you get there.

This place is one of the most touristy places we've been in the world. Completely overflowing with tourists and all the overpriced hotels, restaurants and shops selling knick knacks. This is made worse by the fact that the pedestrian cobbled streets are so narrow you're all jammed in like sardines and it takes half an hour to walk the distance it should normally take 10 minutes.

Yes, the four buildings with blue domes are pretty, but is that enough? Oh, that's right, there's only four buildings with the blue domes. Feels like a bit of a con when you arrive and you realise that the 1000's of photos you've seen of this place are the exact same buildings taken from different angles and different times of day.

Speaking of time of day, if you want to photograph the buildings you'll need to get there EARLY. Otherwise you'll end up in a shoving match with other tourists who will intentionally block your shot, walk into your shot or take 10 minutes filming themselves walking in front of the scenary for their blog. (Yawn.)

We arrived at 9:30am and were **just** able to view and photograph most viewpoints before all the walking tours, cruise ship passengers and other tourists arrived. And this is during Covid travel. So once travel restrictions continue to lift and more tourists return you will likely need to be there at sunrise in order to have any elbow room.

We had an amazing 3 weeks in Greece but this place was nowhere near top 10. If you're determined to visit make sure you get there very early. Overnight in Oia if you can afford it as bus service to the town in early morning is not possible and taxis are expensive.

We came to Oia for the day whilst staying in Pyrgos. It had a very different vibe - much more designer/boutiquey feel, marble walkways and full of young imstagrammers getting their selfies. The views were picturesque.

Oia is a must-see town when visiting Santorini. Even though it has at times an insane amount of visitors (us included - I know....) it is worth the trip and the time.

This street is the main drag through town and passes all the important view points / lookouts. From the Ekklisia Panagia Platsani church all the visitors head west to get the famous pics (the three blue domes). But bring enough time and make sure you also head east from this point.

Lots of nice views and - the more you head east - less and less visitors. To the point where you are almost alone on the street. Even with three cruise ships in port. Some of the views might be less famous - but still amazing.

Countless shops, cafés and restaurants line the street. We especially liked the bakery "ΦΟΥΡΝΟΣ Passaris". Cheap, local and tasty sweet and savory pastries.

A great walking street in a charming and picturesque town. Not to be missed.

This spot is the location to take the blue domes Picture as well as the iconic single blue dome with Pink bell building.

BE WARNED, every tourist on the island will go to this location during sunset so the nest time to go here is most definitely early! Go at 6am and you'll be the only one there for a few hours and get all the photos you want without any pushy tourists!

I wasn't sure where else to put this review. This is the name of the Main Street of Oia, so I figured this is the place to put my review of the town itself. Like many visitors in the city of Oia, a photo safari is on the top of their list. If you want to get the most out of photo safari, here are our tips:
1- Head out early (morning)
2- Explore different angles (walk around as much as you can)
3-Be Respectful of those around you
This is especially true for #1. By beating the crowds, you find less distractions, more time to soak it in, and better photos in the end. You’ll be surprised how fast the tourists come flooding into this beautiful city.
