If you are in Oia, do not miss out to go here for the sunset dinner. We walked down the stairs and straight headed to the swimming area where you can do cliff jumping. Once we were done, we stopped at one the restaurants for...More
It is true about the stairs, they are definitely no joke, BUT totally worth it and definitely something one should do when visiting Oìa.
Amoudi Bay is gorgeous and has a great swimming spot just around the cliff to the left.
We beat the tourists by walking down to the bay via the road and then climbed up the stairs the donkeys use after spending the day in Amoudi Bay. Try different restautrants, have a swim after hiking 20mins following the path past the restaurants, pick...More
Our boat tour originated from this bay. Before we boarded the ship, we walked around the bay for a bit. Although we didnt have time to visit any of the restaurants, we did get a quick beer. Afterwards, we had a short stroll around. The...More
It's a nice place to watch the sunset I'm sure but I would imagine you'd have to book a table in advance. It's a small port that has restaurants and bars as well as the place to get the boat to take you on trips...More
Visited the bay in the first week of November, climb down and climb back up is not too difficult, I read that it’s a great place for swimming - the water was very clear , but the access via the constructed steps looked a little...More
My husband and I decided to visit this place as I wanted to do cliff jumping. The hike down and up can be tiring, hence if you’re not up for the walk, you can always take a drive down. Do look out for donkey poop...More
It's a very cool area to see. It's a bit of a walk down and back up, but it's not too bad. There are donkeys you can take, but we just walked it. The bay isn't too large but it is beautiful and has some...More
Yes, I would. Ask your hotel to reserve a nice table they are more than happy too. They can also reserve a taxi to there and before you leave ask the restaurant manager to call you a taxi back. It’s quite dark after sunset.

We found the whole of Oia to feel extremely safe - including the steps. We were staying above Amoudi Bay and the steps were always well used by lots of people. We walked up and down - there are a lot of steps though - but as long as you're feeling reasonably energetic... be fine. Enjoy.

The Taverna can call a Taxi and should not be a problem
They usually come fast and mist of them are private drivers, clean and polite. When you call for a taxi, they will inform you the kind of car they will be driving... More

The other option, walk up the steps, 278+ if wearing comfortable shoes.

Thanks for the information, Kennydon. I think we will go to the museum first thing on Day 1 to avoid possibly missing out on it, so thank you for the idea. Where does the walk to Oia start from in Fira? I haven't really found much on that.

What I would do while on Naxos is schedule some beach time every day in the afternoon to cool off after sightseeing, and not schedule so many beach resorts for Day 3.
five/six days (10 Replies)
We will be visiting Santorini early summer for five/six days, staying in Imerovigli. We will be walking or using local buses and would like to - take a volcano cruise walk from Fira to Oia see the sunset in Oia swim in Amoudi Bay visit Skaros Rock visit ancient Thira or Akrotiri or both visit black, white or red beaches visit village of Pyrgos Advice please on whether this is doable and if there is anything you think we should add or miss off. Thanks in advance 😀

Very do-able with the exception of visiting Red Beach which has been subject to rockfalls and is unsafe. Since White Beach is only accessible by boat (unless you're a mountain goat), I'd leave it off the itinerary. Honestly, Google a photo and that's it. A white cliff face, very rocky beach and no facilities (loungers, toilets) whatsoever. Take some time to read the previous threads so you'll have an idea of what's possible. The search function defaults to 'relevance', change it to...More
