We went to Zanzibar for our honeymoon trip while combining it with New Year's Eve 2019.
We arrived there on December 27, 2018.
Unfortunately our hotel Neptune Pwani Beach Resort and Spa was not what we expected and in general our accommodation experience was one of the worst we ever had mostly due to the poor room amenities and set up and the unprofessional service of the personnel. We had booked the accommodation with another safari tour operator from Tanzania.
The reason we are referring to that is to make even stronger the point that although we were not happy with our hotel and we could not sleep well, we overall had an amazing experience in Zanzibar.
We owe this to Zanziplanet Tours and to Mussa Hassan personally.
Mussa Hassan is THE man in Zanzibar. He is extremely professional, with great manners, very helpful, discreet, very friendly and very well connected to all Zanzibar hotels and resorts managers, restaurants managers, local store owners etc. We felt that he is very well respected to the local tourist community.
As soon as we arrived to Zanzibar airport after a long stop-over flight from Greece, Mussa welcomed us very warmly. This is exactly what we needed at that time. He dropped us at our hotel and the day after our adventure with him began.
He and a young professional driver were picking us up everyday at the time we wanted and they showed us all the main sight-seeing locations of Zanzibar but from a local perspective.
We don't like touristic attractions that much and Mussa got it from the beginning.
The interesting thing is that from the first day, we didn't feel that we were accompanied by a tourist guide/butler but we are on vacation with a friend of ours. And that's merely the result of Mussa's personality.
We kept discussing with him about local trends, Zanzibar history, social, economic and political situation of the island and of Tanzania in total. He was very well informed about everything while he was an excellent listener as well.
Equally important, he was extremely adaptable to any last minute changes we requested like change plans for NYE dinner. As we didn't like at all the resort we were staying at, we decided to spend our NYE to Park Hyatt Zanzibar in Stone Town. We had to make a reservation on a really busy day. We went there and he arranged everything for us.
He drove us to amazing beach locations like Nungwi, great resorts for dinner like Zalu, to Stone Town and street markets to experience the local lifestyle. He was responsible for all our restaurant reservations and trasports back and forth. He took care of any wish and need that we were coming up with daily.
We are deeply grateful for meeting Mussa in Zanzibar. He literally made our day!
We would recommend him anytime and we are happy to provide any additional information if needed.
Great professionals should be rewarded for their excellency.

We are an older couple with a teenage daughter that has traveled all over the world. We stayed at the Airport Planet Lodge, Kilimanjaro, and booked the Ultimate Safari 04 in 01 Tour around Mt. Kilimanjaro via helicopter. It was a 1 hr drive from the Hotel to the Kilimanjaro Golf Estate where the tour leaves from. It was an expensive tour and a bit risky for August because of any clouds around the mountain. However after a cloudy sunrise, we were lucky and had close-up beautiful views of the mountain and surrounding countryside. (We took the morning flight recommended to avoid cloud cover) Saw giraffes, buffalo and zebras from the air and in the van on the way back to the hotel more zebras. Note the Helicopter fits only 4 people including the pilot. The ride was extremely smooth and felt like we were gliding on air. Take along some warm clothes; it gets a bit cool during the flight. Overall the experience is well worth the expense, especially if you are on a tight timeline.

I took a couple of tours with Zanziplanet Tours in February 2017 and I was very satisfied. They were very nice, well-organized and managed - everything according to my wish, everything oustanding. The guide on these tours was Masoud. I was very impressed with his knowledge of the local history, culture and places. He was very kind, helpful and approachable which made it possible for me to get a great insight into life of the people of Zanzibar. I found it to be an enriching cultural experience.I highly recommend Zanziplanet Tours and Masoud as a guide.

Zanziplanet Tours was outstanding. I don't say this lightly. I have traveled and participated in tours in throughout Asia, Europe, and Africa. The experience with Zanziplanet was unique and compelled me to write this note.

First, the organization was extremely professional and flexible. It was very easy for us to schedule and then embark upon our tours. We were also able to add new tours and modify our tour schedule pretty easily. Our group of 6 all had different areas we wanted to see and each of us were accommodated.

Second, our Tour Guide was very knowledgeable about every area we toured. He provided insight into the unique culture and customs of Zanzibar. His perspectives were very helpful in allowing us to understand the society and enhance our experience.

I would highly recommend any of the dhow coastal tours! The traditional dhow boat ride we went on at the beginning of the year will stay with me as long as I live. A large meal was prepared for us and we had the chance to look out onto the coast of Zanzibar and the stars in the night sky. I have never seen so many stars!

Ultimately, Zanzibar is a special place. But Zanziplanet Tours helped illuminate the beauty of the country and made our experience that much more enriching. I plan to patronize them again on my next trip and would highly recommend them going forward.

Disclaimer: This review will be glowing, but only because they deserve it.

My friends and I (a group of six) needed help with planning Zanzibar for New Years and Zanziplanet was right there. Here's what we did:

1) Dinner Cruise - Amazing! My friends and I stayed in three African countries over two weeks and this cruise constantly tops their list as their favorite part of the trip. You're taken out on the water with live music and (I believe) a three course meal. It was a great time to reflect and to learn about the history of Zanzibar.

2) Transportation from Airport - They were right there after we landed. Couldn't ask for much else.

3) Transportation during NYE - We went to the Kendwa Rocks party. It was pretty crazy out there but our driver was calm and made sure we knew where we were going and how we could meet him.

4) Spice Tour - Do it! By the end of the tour I had lipstick, jasmine, cinnamon bark, eucalyptus, pepper, star fruit, henna leaves, turmeric, and much more in my makeshift banana leaf cup I had. My friends and I highly recommend the Spice Tour.

5) Prison Island Tour - We have seen a 131 year old turtle, and it was huge. Visiting prison island is a must.

6) Stone Town Tour - This was thrown in, which is why I love Zanziplanet tours. We originally booked just the Prison Island Tour and the Spice Tour but my friends (being difficult) asked to do the Stone Town Tour on the fly. Our tour guide was more than happy to take us around.

In the end our tour guide was extremely knowledgable and accommodating. We saw people with other tour guides given 1/5 of the information we received. Everything was very well organized even when we (our group of six) were not. I'm unsure of the experience that Lenushkap had, but I know I would recommend Zanziplanet Tours 100 times over.

Me and my wife have chosen Stone Town and Spice this March. It was very spectacular experience we never have. We discovered many beautiful buildings with rich history and culture diversity. The Guide was very good and charming. The guide had too much nice information. We were picked up in our Hotel on time. Many offers we have got and we had plenty worry free time to spend for shopping and relaxing in Beach Gardens of Forodhani. I recommend to stay longer in Stone Town for Sun set lovers and Night life where u can see the night fish market....

We especially appreciated the sandbank and the lagoon which both were exceptional. Nice lunch was included in a most recommended day tour.

Mussa you as an excellent guide. Very informative and accommodating. He made adjustments to accommodate me and ensured I got great rates for things I purchased at the market. I’d highly recommend this tour and Mussa. This tour is all day so be prepared for a full day! Also make sure you have a towel for the beach!

Good place but,
1-The quality of food is bad and the meat is gummy .
2-the tuna isn’t juicy and so dry.
3-the quantity of food is small compared to the huge price.
4-the prices is hight for low quality of food.
5-the waiters attitude are respectful.
6-the waiter ignored my complain on my food like I didn’t say anything.
7-you smell very bad smell in entrance.
8-the food take too much time to come.
I give it 3/10 for the place and cleanness.
