I saw this place on tripadvisor and my hotel just happened to be right down the street. I bought some beautifully packaged soaps for my friends. They have a great selection of not only beautiful but practical bags, some cult Hong and jewelry, and other gift items, all supposedly made in the store. I saw people sewing I the back,... More

Found Fahari Zanzibar quite by accident while walking down Kenyatta Road in Stone Town. Its purpose is to support women in the community by creating quality unique merchandise: handbags, jewelry, etc. However, I was surprised to see men working the sewing machines! I believe all goods are created right in the store. Staff was very helpful in assisting me choose... More

Me and my girlfriend visited stone town october 2014, we decided to search for this place after the astounding reviews on TA, unfortunately we were quite disappointed. the amazing thing in this place is that all they sell is made there by local women, and that the money earned goes back to the community, that is really beautiful cause, but... This women's collective shop in Stone town is a must stop. It's a small store with products made on site. Extremely high quality handbags made with local products, Innovative, jewelry pieces and headbands, wallets, etc. excellent, thoughtful and informative customer service without a strong push. Love the concept...the future of local shopping. We were really glad we stopped in!

This is by far the most elegant shop in Zanzibar, the products are excellent quality that you know you can keep and cherish for a long time to come. It was lovely to meet the owner who is truly passionate about what she does, and cares greatly for her staff and products. Don't miss this shop!!

This can hardly be called a shop, Fahari is one woman on a mission to change local people's lives and save us all with her exotic fabrics and quality fashion! I walked past the door twice as the shop front is quite unassuming. In a road full of touristy shops selling Zanzibari memorabilia this is an oasis of tout free,... More

I would have probably bought something at Farhari simply to support a great cause -- a social enterprise founded by a successful British designer who has lent her professional skills to support women in Zanzibar as they learn to produce and sell handbags and jewelry crafted from their own own local and sustainable materials. The bonus is that the items... More
