Indeed, it is the most beautiful beach on the island of Santiago, white sand, it is sheltered, few waves, clean and supervised by an "American-style" lifeguard. a small cove and cove for peace and quiet, a few palm trees for shade, good restaurant bars and at the end the port with its fishermen arriving around 11:00 a.m. and their colorful and lively fishing (beautiful show)!. It’s secure and popular with tourists and a few “locals”.

A trip from Praia to Tarrafal and vice versa by taxi. Cost 120 euros. Outward journey via internal road that crosses the mountains until reaching 1300 meters above sea level. Worth visiting is the SOMAD market. TARRAFAL beach is worth it. The return via the coastal road... here the road is panoramic but in "San Pietrini". The shock absorbers were put to the test for around 40 km.

Main beach in Tarrafal where the little amount of tourists here and the local people that have some free time. Rough see with big strong waves. One little bar which sells drinks. Loved it!

In my opinion, the beach is the most beautiful in the whole country. The beach is located in a large bay, there is white sand and lots of palm trees that provide shade, the water is clear and a few waves make for fun swimming. In addition, unlike the beaches in Sal and Mindelo, it is less windy. There are numerous bars and restaurants available for food. There is also a beach volleyball court and slacklines, and jet skis and pedal boats can be rented.

My two grandsons and I spent a week in a stone bungalow under palm trees several steps from Tarrafal Beach. Each morning we were awaken by local green monkeys playing on our roof, snorkeled and sunbathed through the day, and fell asleep each night to the sound of the waves.

The beach is African authentic with a group of fishing boats going in and out all day, and women in colorful fabrics carrying fish in containers balanced on their heads.

We happened to stay during the week of Lent and much to our amazement discovered that Taffafal had its own Carnivale celebration with dancing and music throughout the night.

Praia do baixo was nice. Tarrafal beach... not really worth, except for the families who would met in the morning to gather freshly captured fish brought there by boats.

I did not even had a bath.

Such a nice beach in a nice areas. Taraffal was recommended by a few locals in Praia so we took a day trip up there and it did not disappoint. The beach is beautiful but with most beaches we visited the sea was a little rough from time to time.

The pictures don’t do the beach any justice.

Nice beach în Santiago Island, white beach and pretty views. The dogs are cute and the fishermen market is very interesting and alive.

i stayed in Praia for a few days
and decided to go to Tarrafal
i took the local vans (toyota hiace - “hiace”) at the “sucupira” market and stayed there one night
the round trip costs 1000cve
a place to stay there costs from 800cve up

the beach is beautiful and the place is quite peaceful i recommend

also the trip there is quite pleasant and i would also recommend to pay for a full day tour to Tarrafal. on the way there are plenty of small villages that imo are worth looking and taking pictures

Yellow soft and fine beach (the best of the entire island of Santiago).
The village is completely real life village with its own food market and street restaurants. You could have abundant lunch for few Escudos at the market and feeling like village people and in few minutes reach one of the best beaches of the archipelago.
Tarrafal can't be missed.
