Great beach , almost empty!

This is the best beach of Santiago. Waves are not to high for swimming Just a few people during the week, although you will have the company of lazy dogs....

Yellow soft and fine beach (the best of the entire island of Santiago). The village is completely real life village with its own food market and street restaurants. You could have abundant lunch for few Escudos at the market and feeling like village people and in few minutes reach one of the best beaches of the archipelago. Tarrafal can't be... More

Two nice beaches of different size to enjoy sun bathing and swimming. Restaurants and bars very close so the place is rather "populated" but not crowded. A nice stop.

Tarrafal's sandy beach with some palm trees in a corner is the place's most popular tourist attraction and there is the chance that one will meet plenty of day-trippers from elsewhere on Santiago island, since Tarrafal itself doesn't offer much accomodation. The beach and the sea here look nice for swimming, but one always has to consider the weather, since... More

Beautiful bay. Just sand an a good place for a swim. Many local people do their work-out. In the morning look at the fisherman bringing in fish or catch small fishers for the tuna-fishery. The restaurant on top has a beautiful view. Good beach, parking within walking distance.

The beach in Tarrafal is beautiful! It is not very big and wild. The water is very clean and a bit wavy. There are some rocks that give the impression that the water has different colors from blue to green. You can also have a fresh coconut on the beach and there is a little restaurant there with great food,... More

It is so beautiful. Blue green waters, white soft sand. Bring your snorkeling gear. Leave praia early in the morning it is about a 2 hour drive. the drive is beautiful, the scenery will keep you going "wow" at every turn.

Beautifull small beach with white sand! The nicest is the road to get there through Malagueta Mountains

We rented a car and explored the island of Santiago on our way up to Tarrafal. (The ring roads can be confusing.) When we arrived in Tarrafal, we weren't sure where to go, so we asked a passerby, who directed us to the beaches where everyone was, which includes a fishing stop. We watched the fishermen come in with their... More

White sand, blue sky, local bar for beer and food. Great. Fish market in the mornings, or a t least fishermen selling their catch at one end, and the rest of the beach was empty. Easy to get to by public transport. It can be a bit of a wit to get a bus/minibus back as they like to fill... More
