This is a lovely clean sandy beach. It's really unspoilt and not crowded at all. It is used by locals but we weren't pestered by sellers. The only issue I had was that the only toilets were unusable.

White sand, turquoise water, fisherman boats floating and nicely shaped waves. The perfect cliche of tropical beach.

We'd read mixed reports about Tarrafal, so we didn't really expect much, but I have to say that this beach is fantastic. For Santiago, it's a rare bit of easy chill out time. It was clean & there were plenty of people enjoying themselves, be it sunbathing, swimming or surfing. We only stopped for two or three hours as we... More

A place every traveler in Santiago must go to. The sunset is wonderful, the beach is beautiful and clean, the locals are welcoming. Fishermen sell their fish still alive and it is delicious!

Tranquil place with good bathing. A picturesque place, particularly since part of the beach is where the colourful fishing boats land their catches. These boats, resplendent in different colours each named and some painted with faces like fierce sharks are the surrounded by men and women in African coloured clothing who prepare the fish for immediate sale on the beach.... Its a beach, there is nothing much to it. But unlike many other beaches around Santiago this one has sand. It gets deep rather quick and the waves can be heavy.

Tarrafal has 3 beaches all, easily accessible, all close to town centre. The furthest is a small golden sandy crecsent shaped beach that is bordered by rocks and is quite sheltered. Its also quite stoney underfoot, so not fantastic for kids and the waves can be quite strong and high at times. Its the beach with a run down abandoned... More
