Visited these gardens/zoo whilst on a full day tour that was arranged with Edgar Pires. The entrance fee is only €5 each and goes towards the upkeep and care of these animals, who without this place probably wouldn't survive. The whole place is really well looked after and there are some beautiful plants. My partner and his friends even came back later in the week to play a round of golf on the newly built golf course. Definitely worth a visit 🥰🇨🇻🌵x

you pay 5 euros if you want to have a look around the garden, and nothing if you are just visiting the cafe. The garden and the animals are very well looked after. There are no exciting animals to the European eye, but you can definitely see the effort put in keeping the place. Small kids would be excited though :)

The Cafe is lovely with all sort of refreshments, try their juices, as everything is made with fruits from the garden.

This is a very serene spot to get close to nature. The landscape is beautiful and well laid out.

Entry fee is 5 Euros cash for adults and free for children. It has a wide array of flora and fauna. It boasts of several plants and multitude of cactus plants. The staff seem committed to the zoo and are very friendly

There is a wide selection of birds and animals; parrots, 4 horned goats, donkey, horses, guinea pigs, chameleon , rabbits, monkeys

The place has several spots for great picture opportunities

More a zoo than Gardens. The tour guild seemed very proud of the conservation aspect of the gardens and zoo on an island that not had water for 6 years. This was a sad place to visit with donkeys, monkeys , goats, birds in small enclosures. The animals did not appear happy in their environment. They needed larger enclosures with turtles having the most living areas largest.

Dear Steve, I'm not sure what you have seen. I understand not loving enclosures (Bare in mind we have to keep the animals here because they can not survive "in the wild"), but the places are HIGE and very well kept. The Tortoise has a 500sqm place!!! All the others animals are in nice big enclosures and donkeys are daily walked. I'm sorry you found this place "Sad", but there is NOTHING sad in it: the animals are well kept, well loved and cared for. The animals are here because GIVEN by people that can not keep them anymore. Or found abandoned. Or given by the police. We certainly could make bigger spaces...but I remind ytou we are not a millionaire country. The park is private and with ZERO help. Not your concern, but maybe it helps you understanding a bit better the situation. Thank you

Not sure about this place, if it's for rescued animals brilliant, i would score it higher, if it's a small zoo where animals are brought in for viewing purposes then it's a big no no. It's like a tardis, from the outside it looks quite small, in the middle of nowhere, it can be seen from the coach just before it pulls into the road that leads to the hotels, but inside a variety of animals, birds (avaries need to be bigger) plants and plenty of different types of cactii. Cost? Well we were informed before we went that it ran on donations, but we were charged 5 euros each, as was a family by someone who wore no indentification, was stood behind a tree, also no receipt, he did work there as i noticed him later on working, but whose to say he isn't pocketing the money!!

Dear Brian, I’m sorry you did not understand the concept. First of all: I don’t know who told you the park function on donation, as that is not true (and would be impossible). We ask a 5€ Fee, which is really a small amount considering the size of the park. The aim of the EcoPark is not being a zoo: we collect animals that people can’t take care of anymore. Finally: I am pretty sure the guy receiving you did either have a “Pachamama t-shirt” or a pin. We don’t do paper receipts because we love trees, but if you need one, you can ask for it. Our team is trustful and would never pocket the money from entrance fee. I know it’s hard to believe, but yes: we still TRUST. Thank you anyway.

Walked here from melia dunas took about 20 mins
Only five euros entrance fee. Well worth it. They people there are really working hard to make a go of it. Take your time waking around and you will see lots of interesting birds and animals aswell. There is a nice catcti garden that is quite new
Stop and have a drink and relax for a while at the little cafe. This place is well worth a visit. We enjoyed a lovely stroll around and spent about two hours here.

We popped in here after a morning Horse Riding from the stables next door.

Its only 5 Euro to enter per person and to be honest its not a massive place but its worth a little visit for the money and knowing your entry fee goes towards looking after the animals makes it all the more worth while. There is a small range of animals and gardens to walk around. If you need them there is a small refreshments hut and toilets.

We spent a happy hour here before walking back to our hotel.

Visited here as part of an organised day trip touring the island. Unlike the rest of the island, it’s very green with lots of plants, trees and grass. They have many animals including monkeys, birds, giant tortoise, donkeys and goats. There’s a cafe too. It’s very peaceful and well worth a visit to support this attraction.

I have been visiting the Sal island of Cape Verde for 7 years and never seen so much greenery and wonderful animals.
I was amazed to see how many animals had been rescued and cared for and what a wonderful job the owners and staff where doing to look after the abandoned animals.
I am rarely interested in ‘Zoo’s’ as I feel like the animals often are there for profit and not to be loved. It’s clear that all the animals here are loved and cared for with ample food and exercise on an island where most would never survive in the wild desert like environment.
This is a must visit for anyone coming to Cape Verde all I can say is I wish, I had visited years ago and not left it so long.

Excellent! Eco friendly and lots of upcycling etc. The place is immaculate and has lots of gorgeous flora. All the animals are rescues and some of the stories are very heartwarming. If you visit Sal then you should definitely make a pit stop here. It only takes an hour or so to get around everything and costs €5 which in my opinion was well worth it. Staff are all very nice and the little food/drink hut is very charming with tasty natural drinks.
