If you are staying at Santa Maria you need to do this. We booked this excursion under the recommendation of Jane Macdonald.
I am not the fittest person and my husband is fairly good at cycling. We are both 50.
We were collected from our hotel and taken to the cycle hire shop.
The bikes are well looked after and you are given full instructions on how to use them. You can have a helmet and a bike basket.
The guide Mo was really fun and informative. There was also a guide at the back. The bikes were 5 gears and also had a boost button. Easy to ride and steer.
We took safe routes to shell beach, Santa Maria centre, the nature reserve, the salt lakes, kite beach and the TUI foundation college. Plenty of drink and toilet stops. Our last stop was at a beach bar. Cheap drinks and snacks. Mo came round everyone and spoke to everyone.
Upon returning back to the bike hire centre. We were given vouchers to get discount at the local shop. mo also took us back to the transfer coach. Very safe and very informative. Mo is a superstar and the companies dog came on the tour with us. Would definitely recommend to all ages.

Fabulous trip!
We booked the trip with Edgar, easy booking. We had Mo as our tour guide, he was very knowledgeable, spoke 4 languages, helpful & set the cycling pace to the group! Absolutely fantastic morning!

Had a great few hours led by our guide, the fantastic Mo. Been a few years since I’ve been on a bike but this was fun and informative. The bikes are heavy but easy to use and a great way to see the sights. We did a four hour trip which was fine and I would recommend this trip.

What an incredible way to see the island, the bikes are in perfect condition and the staff couldn't be more friendly! Loved the bikes so much I'm looking to buy one! Look forward to coming back and going on them again.

I rent a bike for a full day. I immediately let the staff knew that the battery was not fully charged but they let me go anyway, telling me it was normal. After 2 hours the battery was empty, despite the fact that I followed the instructions (not to use the bike at full speed). I had to ride this very heavy bike back to the shop and without battery it was awfull, especially on a sunny hot day. I rent a Quad for the rest of the day, That was fun. Do not rent those bike it's a waist of monney.

We've done today a 4 hour bike tour. What a lovely way to discover the island! I wouldn't recommend normal bikes, because the island is very windy, but e-bikes are perfect! I recommend this to everyone! 20€ for a 4hours rental.

I could do this trip every day, we enjoyed it so much! Mo, Fort & ‘Stormsy’ were so much fun, helpful, lovely and made it so interesting, and Mac the dog was the icing on the cake. (He started following the tour 8 years ago and goes out every day with them, his little legs must ache!)
We’re in our 50’s and hadn’t ridden electric bikes before, we all picked it up quickly, they were very comfy seats but be warned that the terrain can be quite bumpy off road. You could opt to wear a helmet or not and there are baskets available to put bags in.
We visited so many places of interest on the tour, parts of Santa Maria off the beaten track, kite beach, salt plains, the municipal marketplace, ponta Preta and nature reserve where the turtles nest. If you only do one trip I would recommend this one in a heartbeat, it was exhilarating as well as being informative. LOVED IT 🙏 thanks guys for a great day xx

We booked the tour via our travel agent. Most likely you coud save some money by booking directly.
First time riding an E-bike. Simply loved it.
Our guide Ibrahim did not give any leeway. He took us against the wind (15-20 m/s) from Santa Maria to the starting point of the soon to open Sal Zipline.
Really enjoyed the scenery. By far the best part was when we were allowed to use the full power of the battery. It was easy to gain 40kmh plus.
Ibrahim explained us the history of Capo Verde as well as his home country, Senegal.
Highly recommend!

Had the pleasure of joining the guide Ibrahim on a 4 hour and nearly 30 km bikeride on electric fat bikes. Met another group and two other guides. Had a sing-a-long and group dance. Great way to see the southern part of Sal.

We were taken on a tour around the edge of the local area over rough terrain and sand. The bikes were easy to use and the tour was interesting.

Hello, I will be visiting Sal with my family in August and wondered what your guided tours include? Where do you go? Also what is the cost please for 2 adults and my daughters ages 17 & 13? Thanks.

The guided tour goes nearly every where on the south part of the island. I cannot remember the price, but it was ok. I can only recommend. You can also rent the bikes and go for yourselves. Have a talk with Ibrahim. He is really a fantastic guy from Senegal.

Hi Julie, we rent for the week or longer but you always have to bring the bike back at 6pm and pick up at 8am due to maintenance and battery recharging. We don´t rent at night due to past parts robbery in our (and neighbours) bikes during the night.
For one full day rent (8am-6pm) the price is 30€ but if you rent for the full week the price will be 20€ per day
