I had an amazing and unforgettable experience in this museum during my weekend there !
You could be easily stunned by the history of this place between the birth of Bell helicopter and 3 rare helicopters, the test flight of the experimental us navy x-22, the place of the beginning of Curtiss engines or the story of the sound barrier and the Bell X-1 which broke it.
I would to thank my two amazing guides : David who gave me the best introduction and the best seat for the Saturday conference and Walter for his incredible stories and knowledge about these artefacts and historical events. I would like to thank Don for his hospitality and finally Erick for an unforgettable final and special tour !
This museum reminds me that aviation has no frontiers, no limits and even the sky could not hold you if you have the good rocket !
Thanks everyone and see you ✌🚁

A visitor can be patr of a group tour or do a solo visit, I did the solo visit, that way I can take my time.

I started with the Curtiss-Wright section that includes glass cases of model, the history of C. W. and several aircraft which are the Jenny trainer, a 1910 Curtiss Pusher & a 1926 P-1A Experimental. Down one hallway are photos of the late 1930's up to 1950's. Also are drawings & two engines of the early 1930's.

After the hallway starts the Bell aircraft starting with the mid 1930's. Both Bell & C.W. only had two aircraft that were produced-Bell the P-39 Airacobra & the P-63 King Cobra while C.W. produced three aircraft- the P-36, the P-40 Warhawk & the 1944 Helldriver. C.W. has more photographs yet Bell's photograph are still interesting.

The hallway leads to the museum's main exhibit-the P-39Q Airacorba that was recovered fron a lake Russia in 2009 in 2009. My visit was mainlyto view the P-39. There is information stand about the pilot-IVAN IVAOVICH BARANOVSKIY-1922-1944. Another smaller exhibit is about "Rosie The Riveters" in which two women from the Buffalo area who assembled this P-39 called 'Miss Lend Lease". Both Bell & Curiss-Wright has two factories in the Buffalo area.

The lobby aircraft are:
Bell Model 47 Crop Duster.
1947 Bell 47-5 Helicoper.
Fleet N24-1 that was flown on the 1930's Navy Air Shop Macon..
A 1930's Cunning-Hall.
Also are two 1930's aircraft engines.

There several information photos of both factories and much information about each factories.

Parking is just outside in tanden. The best way to parkis from the very front or at the rear. I parked at the rear and frove out no problem.

Visited on a day when there was a speaker on the Tuskegee Airman. The talk was great and the tour afterward was spectacular. If you are in the area this a must see type of stop.

Really? Open Saturdays and Sundays only? And even then only open 11am to 4pm?
Recommend they carve out .5% of executive salaries to hire a full time attendant M-S 9 to 5.

We had a great time visiting this museum for my Dad’s birthday. Walter was incredibly knowledgeable and provided us with a wonderful free tour of the facility. His back stories added tremendously beyond the plaques on the walls.

Wanted to get away for my birthday and decided to go to Niagara Falls to see the aerospace museum which focuses on the aviation history of upstate NY and includes actual aircraft from Curtiss Wright, Bell Aerospace and the Consolidated Aircraft Co.

They had a unique one of a kind Cunningham-Hall GA-36 built in Rochester NY (was first plane to feature double motion wing flaps devised to lower landing speeds and not flying speeds) which was exciting to see as well as an actual control panel used by a mission controller during the Apollo moon missions. I love space so it was nice to see what items they had including a Lunar Ascent Engine and Rocket Belt (like seen in "Thunderball").

The place includes a few nice helicopters and lots of items celebrating the aviation history of NY. Being on the airport grounds, you might get lucky to see various planes taking off or landing.

Highly recommended museum for history and aviation buffs.

We have visited Niagara Falls several times over the years and it seems to change slightly by season. This is the first time that we went to the museum and found it not only closed but the building up for sale/lease.

If you're interested in aviation at all and in particular aviation history in Buffalo, NY, this is a must see museum. It has extensive photographs and actual aircraft on display from Curtiss Wright, Bell Aerospace and the Consolidated Aircraft Co. You can walk through yourself or enjoy a tour. Our tour guide Walter was excellent and extremely knowledgeable. I highly recommend it and plan on spending at least a couple hours there!
