The Adirondack Interpretive Center is free to visit and has great hiking trails. They are easy to do, quick to complete, and offer beautiful scenery. The staff at the center are very helpful and they offer awesome programming.

We often stop when traveling to or from the High Peaks. The displays are very well done! The staff is welcoming and knowledgeable. The walks provide a lovely break from driving.

The Visitors Interpretive center has 3 great scenic trails that are about a mile each. You can do all three and have a lovely time. They wind past lakes and through forest.

On the small side, but gave a lot of information about that part of the Adirondacks. Several handouts that you can take with you. There are trails to walk and a picnic area.

I am no biologist, but my understanding is that this spring and summer have been ideal conditions for breeding (water) and eating (mosquitos) due to the abundance of rain and warm weather.

The AIC is in Newcomb, NY, a very rural town in the middle of the Adirondacks. The location alone is a great reason to visit, however public transportation to Newcomb is not offered. Adirondack Trailways has a bus route that... More
