- GingerSnapKSafety Harbor, Florida6 contributionsFantastic tour of the Hudson River! I highly recommend it.This was my second trip aboard the Pride of the Hudson. I live in Florida and I travel to the Hudson River Valley every fall to get my taste of autumn. I love the history of the river. I loved seeing Bannerman's Castle from the river and West Point. My only complaint would be I wish the cruise would go down to Bear Mountain and turn around there. I will be back in Oct. 2024.Visited October 2023Traveled soloWritten March 7, 2024
- StevenNew York27 contributionsBeen here several times; will be back againWe have been on the Pride of The Hudson quite a few times over the years. Always a good time. They have a bar which serves soft drinks, bottled beer, a couple of beers on tap, and liquor as well. They have bathroom facilities on board as well for the 2 hour trip. Consider getting there at the start of boarding if you have a strong preference for where you sit. Note that they have their own large parking lot (located in front of the boat) that comes in very handy when there are other events in the area. The crew is very good and helpful. The one downside (in my opinion) is that there is limited shaded areas on the top deck.Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 18, 2024
- annebargerEast Greenbush, New York1 contributionDay trip on Pride of the HudsonMy daughter and I took a afternoon cruise on the Pride of the Hudson. From the moment we arrived , the crew was pleasant and polite. The crew member saw that we were sprinting to the boat , and she shouted out to us “ take your time do not rush we are waiting for you “ You do not see that kindness too much any more in customer service. She started the cruise with a smile on all Of us !! Also the cruise was narrated wonderfully and the boat and bathroom were cleanVisited May 2024Traveled with familyWritten September 10, 2024

- Michael H1 contributionNice way to spend two hoursOur two hour cruise on the Pride of the Hudson was very nice. The staff was very friendly, the narration was educational and informative. The boat left on time and returned on time . It was reasonably priced and worth the fee. There were no concerns about the safety of the boat. The only reason I did not offer 5 stars is because I think the bathrooms need a total deep clean or makeover. Otherwise, It was a plesant experience.Visited October 2024Written October 15, 2024

We had a great time viewing the scenic Hudson River and the sites along it. Although native NYers, we learned new things about the area. The crew were friendly, professional and knowledgeable. We would do it again....Visited October 2024Written October 20, 2024

The town of Newburgh has a plethora of waterfront restaurants to enjoy, and a museum where George Washington headquarters stood. A Great day visit!Visited October 2024Written October 21, 2024

Crew were warm and friendly, there’s a drink and snack bar on the lower inside section. Ample seating up top although need to arrive early to get a seat. Well done narrative along the trip going up to West Point. We would do this trip again. For the cost it was well worth it !Visited October 2024Traveled with friendsWritten November 3, 2024

Our experience was great. We arrived about 20 minutes prior to departure, and the deck was already full. Consequently, we had to go down to the first floor, which we didn't mind as the deck was too windy for our 2-month-old baby that day. So, keep in mind, if you want to sit on the deck, arrive at least 30 minutes before the departure time.
By the way, I would recommend they set different prices for deck/indoor seats, so people don't get disappointed (as we would have been if we had come without our baby). I understand that people might then be upset if the weather is bad and they paid for the upper deck, but every outdoor activity has this challenge.

My daughter was having her Bridal shower at a venue on Front St and with the Pride of the Hudson only blocks away it was the perfect place to take the guys while the gals had their party. Her shower was from 12 to 3pm and this cruise was from 12 to 2pm Perfect. We had a wonderful time and the crew and staff could not have been nicer. This is a family run operation and they certainly take pride in all that they do. I had the honor of meeting one of the Captains as she made her way through the passengers to make sure all was well. Her Brother was the Captain of this day but she can be on another day. Wonderful host . She promised to return to take a picture of our table of 7 and she did.
I would highly recommend this trip on the Hudson.
The ship is well staffed so you do not need to stand in line for 20 min for a drink. all moves fast.
Areas are clean and well maintained. They are Covid-19 sensitive and make sure the passengers are well spaced .. I enjoyed being teased on this trip and most ships with my last name being "Gilligan" they even had a Gilligan's Island poster they brought to our table for the pictures.
This was a perfect experience.
Thank you Pride of the Hudson !

We had a large group (9 in total) and were able to get a table inside (air conditioned) for my 91 year old Mom who could see the sights along the Hudson. A majority of us were free to move around the boat to the front of the boat to the top as well so you didn't have to stay in one spot which was great as well. The crew was very knowledgeable and very pleasant and helpful with our Mom - we especially loved our bartender who worked the inside bar - she was the best! I would totally recommend this for anyone wanting to have a fun time with friends and/or family.

We did the afternoon trip in mid-July on a day when the forecast threatened rain, which didn't show up. It was extremely hot on the upper level, but for those of us who didn't mind the sunshine and heat, it was most relaxing and enjoyable. The crew was extremely friendly and helpful. I just recommend that if anyone in your party is sensitive to summer heat, well.... they should get there early to grab a shaded seat.

Pride of the Hudson is a small cruise vessel run with clearly great care and attention by a locally based seasonal crew. The ship leaves from a private parking lot along the Newburgh waterfront. On our visit it started boarding around 12:30 PM and left at 1:00 PM for a short one hour trip down the Hudson to West Point, the U.S. Army's famed military academy. There Pride of the Hudson turns around and goes back to its home dock. The ship has two decks--the lower one air conditioned with white linen tablecloths and chairs and a bar/snack service. A bar service is also available on the upper open deck where the Captain is based. We chose the upper deck on an absolutely beautiful day. I would have preferred a longer ride, but it is what it is. Trips up the Hudson that I previously took from New York City and lower Westchester County stop at the Bear Mountain Bridge. Both sides of the Hudson on our day had visible high traffic on the rails - commuter trains on the East side of the River, and on the West, a freight line where we saw a freight train that was longer than any I've seen out West. The green hills on both sides are magnificent, as are the cliffs. This land has been carefully preserved for future generations. It is not too hard to imagine what it was like when the first Europeans sailed north from New York.

Teens had a good time on the hottest day of the summer. Crew was so sweet, ship was on time, narration was sporadic so it gave everyone quiet time. Adults enjoyed the Fun-on-the-River vodka drink, too. Glad to see the recycling containers for our water bottles, too. Loved the Bald Eagle view!

Very enjoyable ride and I saw a lot of history on the trip. Food and drink prices were as actually reasonable and they took great care in making sure food and drink was fresh. Staff was fantastic ! Each and everyone took the time to happily answer questions and point out areas of interest along the way.
The only negative thing I experienced was the poor sound system. The recording was muddled and hard to understand. Couple that with a loud engine and hearing what they said was difficult. Please spend some extra money and update the sound system and recording.
Other than that, I highly recommend the Pride of Hudson to anyone wanting to see the historical Hudson !

We spent a wonderful afternoon on the pride of the Hudson in August 2023. We were a group of 18 and our average age was 70. That crew is exceptional in helping each one of us board, and every part of the trip was thoroughly enjoyed, including the bar with its array of delicious drinks. I would recommend this to anyone who is interested.

Pride of the Hudson cruise on the Hudson River from Newburgh to West Point was a very nice experience. The boat was clean, restrooms clean, the purchased bag lunch was delicious. The narrated tour was pre recorded and from our vantage point...rear of boat next to very noisy group..was not able to be heard at all. Once we moved forward it was audible and once we went to upper deck was heard the best. It was 100 degrees that day so being outside was very hot, but a slight breeze made it bearable. The views were nice, the river like glass, and the many different types of boats and birds and helicopters and long freight trains were nice to see. It was very relaxing and not too long as to get boring. I suggest buying the lunch and bringing your own beverages. The crew is very helpful and were so kind to a group of senior citizens .

The sailing experience was filled with beautiful scenery and the narration of the history was quite interesting. The crew was friendly. They had a bar but I opted not to eat or drink fearful I would need to use a restroom that was overflowing with urine and “other waste” - not to be gross. My husband said the men’s rooms were just as hideous. Many elderly people on this trip and many had to endure these unsanitary conditions or soil themselves. Crew was definitely aware because the stench was horrendous!

Are there any stairs for seniors to tackle? Are the bathrooms easily accessible for seniors?
Written September 6, 2023
If I recall correctly there are some stairs to get to the dock and on the boat. If you want to sit on the 2nd deck area there is a stairwell. Bathrooms are on the main deck/level and that has seating and air conditioning.

Yes. Even some street parking. Just make sure NOT to park in an adjacent lot that is reserved for restaurant customers.

Is it recommended to bring your child of 14 years to the boat ride? Or is it highly recommended for only adults to go.
Written August 26, 2016
This is good for all ages. However they may offer sunset/happy hour cruises which i would not take a 14 yr old on
