The Preserve is over 23,000 acres of land with lakes, waterfalls, creeks and mountains. There are numerous trails for every fitness level whether hiking or biking. If you simply want to relax by the scenic Lake Minnewaska you can do that too! We hiked the Lake Minnewaska Carriage road to the Gertrude's Nose Path which goes into the adjacent Mohonk... More

Visited here in late June with husband and 10 yr old shitzu-poodle mix. The hike had a lot of scenery and some inclines were harder for my older dog so we had to carry her, but other than that we loved the surrounding area. We even saw a bear while driving to the main point. You can chose a 2,... More

This is one of my respites upstate. I have mainly taken advantage of the swimming and the hiking. There is a lifeguard in the swimming area. If you take a special swimming test (I forget who administers it) you can swim anywhere in the lake. The test is fairly vigorous. There is a lane at the 20 foot depth mark... More

This park is a great place to spend the day. They have many different trails to choose from, ranging from easy to difficult. We took a more difficult trail which took us high up above the trees. The view was spectacular. Trail was about 3 miles and took us about 2 hours with 2 brief rest periods. Cost only $10... More

I've been in the dead of winter, the spring the fall and, most recently, summer. It's never a bad time to go. There are trails of every difficulty and a tiny beach to swim in. Only $10 per car to get in!

Whether you like to hike, bike or just stroll this park is really special. Many trails to walk, the glacier lake is beautiful. I have been here in summer and fall. The lake is refreshing and cold. The view on the mountains are spectacular.. The Shawangunk mountains give you a great view of the Hudson Valley and all it offers.
