Their phone message said they would be open on Thursday - we left multiple voicemails through the week to check this and never got a call back. We stayed an extra day on vacation to accommodate the Thursday opening. We turned up on Thursday to be told they were closed Thursday as well for an unknown reason and it wasn't their problem. really rude and irritating. Avoid

While my kids enjoyed it, I observed some uncomfortable moments as a mom. This place is busy, lots of customers showing up for their appointments. We booked 1.5 hour ride to the beach, the trail to reach the beach is mountainous, narrow, and woodsy. The actual time we ride on the beach is very short, however very beautiful and memorable. We even saw swans on the beach! It is one guide per group of 10. Guide in front, and we all followed him in a single file. One of the horses in our group decided to sit down to take a rest (Eventually within 5 minutes, he got up and continued!). Another horse was very cranky and was biting the neighboring horses. We asked the guide if that was normal and he said yes? That gives me the feeling that the horses are over-worked and just exhausted! I felt bad. Also if my kid had one of the sitting horses or cranky one, I'd be so worried, as the guide isn't allowed to get off his own horse, for safety/policy purposes.

The guide, Kate, was very friendly and we enjoyed her company. The ride was beautiful and peaceful. I would highly recommend. I’ve ridden for many years, but my significant other has not and this was enjoyable for both of us.

Still one of the best days I have had and it has been almost 3 years since we took our wonderful horse ride to the beach. Such a great memory.

If you’re up for just being around horses and the feeling of being in the saddle for awhile, this will accomplish that. If you’re thinking this will actually be a beach ride as advertised, walking (erase the thought of galloping) along the beautiful Montauk shoreline with waves lapping at your horse’s hooves, or leaving hoof prints in the sand, it’s not that. If you’re thinking you’ll ride along the beach for even 10 minutes of the 90 minute ride, it’s not that either. If you’re thinking you’ll have a long slow walk for 40 minutes, on a not-scenic trail, in a caravan with up to 9 other bored horses trying to grab whatever they can eat along the way, with a 5 minute walk around a tidal pool (you won’t go anywhere near the shoreline), and then another slow walk down the same exact not-scenic trail for the 40 minutes back to the barn, you’re right. Staff is pleasant enough, horses look taken care of enough. My saddle flap broke off along the way - - indicative of old tack that’s not well-checked. But to call this a “Beach Ride” - in any way - is taking advantage of technical language because, technically, we did traverse sand and a little tiny bit of water, but it would never be what anyone would think of as a “Beach Ride” or even a partial beach ride. If you think $110 plus very (I repeat, Very) high-pressured-gratuity is worth it for walking a horse from Point A to Point B and back again, with a little hint of sand just to legitimize false advertising, then you’ll love it.
