I will say at the outset I am a little terrified of horses. My husband really really wanted to go riding on our mini moon so I indulged him - and I’m SO glad we went. The staff was great and made me feel at...More

A great adventure just for the history alone! Best horse paths, especially to ride along the beach. There are other good horseback riding places in Montauk, but Deep Hollow has the best access to the Ocean! Other amenities offered—barbecue, hayrides, etc. They book in advance...More

Very nice. Highly recommended. Fun for all ages. Make sure to ask them not to give you a lazy horse, like Elvis :-) He kept eating all the way and it was very difficult to convince him to move. He might have been tired too....More

Go look at the pictures and imagine what it must have been like when the Rough Riders rode out to here. Also, it is hard to believe but this is the oldest operating cattle ranch in the country.

Drive over to the oldest cattle ranch in the United States but the place was closed. Did get a chance to pet three horses but no activities, no gift shop, no tours! It was more like a ghost town.

We had one of my best ever riding experiences galloping down the dunes. So much fun! If you can ride well and gallop you will never forget this.

I believe they have pony rides but for young children. I don’t believe it’s a trail ride. Call and ask maybe they will give a discount for that large of a group they were very nice.

Does anyone have any info. on this place? I came across an old Montauk Visitors Guide (2002). I was never interested in this place before but now that we are taking our Grand daughter with us (she is 3-1/2) and thought of the petting zoo with its pony rides. Was also interested in the Texas BBQ. I called the place and the BBQ isn't offered anymore. (I guess they should update their website). They still offer the pony rides at the petting Zoo. Any suggestions, were leaving for Montauk...More

It's something to do, just keep in mind it's more a ranch and horseback riding place than a "petting zoo". I do think your granddaughter would enjoy it. There is also another stables out that direction. Rita's Stables is located on West Lake Drive off of Route 27 maybe a mile or so east of the village. They also have pony rides and you may want to give them a call. As for the BBQ, the only place that might suit your needs would be Rick's Crabby Cowboy Cafe on East Lake Drive near Montauk...More
