We went on a 5 hour whale-watching tour. It was a beautiful day, it took about 3 hours to end up in a pod of about 25-30 humpback whales. It was wonderful thing to watch. Youngsters breaching, older ones tail slapping just so much activity. It was a great trip. Would definitely recommend!

I have been fishing with the Viking Fleet for over 50 years and there definitely the top fish producers on the East Coast. I have fished on the Viking Star, Viking Starship and now the Viking Five Star which is my favorite. The boat is the ultimate fish catching machine with the top Captain and Crew especially Jay. I love the boat because they only take 12 anglers so there's more room and the bunks are super comfortable with a big roomy cabin that's heated in the winter and air conditioned in the summer. My friend and I had another phenomenal trip catching our limit of Jumbo Black Sea Bass to 6lbs. and a cooler full of fat ling and a few market cod. The Captain kept us on fish all day and even kept us out a little longer. The mates were fantastic especially Jay. Will definitely be back soon for the 2025 Offshore Long Range Trips!

Our trip was FABULOUS! We saw a couple of dolphins and SO MANY whales. I felt like I was watching a show at Sea World. The whales breached several times, rolled to wave at us and gave us wonderful views of their tales. It was a great day!

Although looking forward to a pleasant ferry ride on the Viking Superstar, I was very disappointed in it.

It was falsely advertised and a bit exaggerated on their website:
"The Viking Superstar was custom designed by Paul G. Forsberg for the waters of Montauk. It is 120’ long and is a high-speed ferry featuring a stable anti-seasickness design. The interior cabin is air-conditioned. There is plenty of comfortable seating both inside and outside. The three-deck Viking Superstar features a fabulous upper deck where you have a photo opportunity to capture that special moment when you arrive at your location!"

It didn't feel like it was custom designed for the waters of Montauk and had a stable anti-seasickness design. Both to and from Block Island, I was sitting outside holding on to the bench for dear life. It was not pleasant at all. I was queasy and more importantly, feared capsizing.

Unfortunately, it was just a fishing boat; it was not a high speed ferry. In fact, it was moving rather slowly. We saw the holders for the fishing poles. The boat was unkept with paint chipping off. Inside, some seats had ripped cushions and at least one tray behind a midship seat had some soil marks coming and going. It was never cleaned after 3 days. It didn't have a fabulous upper deck. The interior cabin had very little if no air conditioning; it had uncomfortable fans blowing and in fact, smelled of fuel. The seats surely were not comfortable-especially on the outside. In fact, the NYC ferry run by the MTA for $4.00 one way-is one hundred times better.

My mother recently passed and my sisters and I were counting on making new and delightful memories aboard this ship. Instead, it was the opposite. We each paid $110 round trip ($110 x 3 = $330)-certainly not worth it. Also, we tried to buy online to save $10 each but the website was not accepting payments. Very frustrating.

Great to see so many whales. Extremely uncomfortable narrow seating with railing behind 7-8 " wide seat so that it hits your head. The combination of railing and narrow continuous metal seating makes sitting painful. The inside cabite is not clean --this includes much of the seating. The announcer- guide provides some useful information but talks much too much. The crew is OK but not particularly friendly or helpful. They seem to like sailing but also seem bored by repeat journeys with passengers asking the same question

I visited earlier in the month w my husband, son, and nephew and we had a good time. The staff was so helpful and friendly. I decided to come back with my mom and sister, along with my son and nephew. I was excited to see that half the staff was there but recognized some faces. The weather was not the best but we were ok with that. The second time around the staff was not friendly AT ALL! I asked to sit on the aside of the boat that i did last time because the sun would keep my mom warm and was told no. FOR NO REASON. Both sides of the boat filled and since I was there early I thought I could have a preference. They’re whole demeanor was not as friendly when we needed hep. And most of all, when my son got hit in the head with the 8lb weight (by accident) they seemed bothered and not once did any of them ask if he was ok. The whole boat knew what had happened because he screamed soo loud when the next person’s weight swung around hitting him in the head. All they kept saying was “it happens”. “It happens” over and over and not once dis they ask if he’s ok or needed anything.
Also last time we caught a sand shark and a fluke they let us take a quick pic. This time they didn’t wait when we asked, they just chucked the fish back in.
Overall I was totally taken back because the two experiences wer like night and day.

We took our 10 year old granddaughter on this whale watch. It was her first time and she was truly awed by the whole experience. We saw over 2 dozen very active whales and pods of dolphins. We even saw a hammerhead shark! What a great memory for all of us!

Be aware Viking Fleet passengers cannot self-park at the Cross Sound ferry port. No exceptions!! You’ve got to park in the Water St parking lot which is .4 mile walk across railroad tracks and uneven surfaces and criss a multilane road. Not really so much fun carrying luggage in the pouring rain with thunder and lightening.

If you want to see whales, lots of whales, up close, I recommend the Viking Fleet whale watching. This is not a luxury cruise. We were out from 10 am to 4 pm. You should bring your own lunch. Some small snacks and drinks are offered for sale. The expert narration and guidance was excellent and educational. There were plenty of places on decks to view the whales. My 12 year-old grandson thoroughly enjoyed the day and got some fantastic pictures.

Great experience on the Viking Star yesterday. Took a little searching but we found the whales! Groups swimming together & at one point the ship was literally surrounded by whales. Mostly humpbacks but also a minke and dolphin sightings too. At one point a humpback breached just a few feet from us. Lots of waving tails. If you are prone to motion sickness be sure you take something in preparation. It was a bit rough out there yesterday and many onboard became seasick. Plenty of spots to see the whales and room for those not feeling well. Crew members were very friendly and happy to share their knowledge about the whales and the Montauk area.
