I’ve taken a number of surf lessons over the years and my lesson with Tom at Corey’s Wave was by far the best. The staff at Corey’s Wave is very knowledgeable and responsive. Highly recommend whether you’re a first time surfer or are looking to improve your surfing.

Beautiful very soulful spot in Montauk. pretty to walk down to the dunes and there are some food trucks with long lines and high prices but good food. If you are a family I would recommend Hither Hills State park for the parking and accessibility to town and bathrooms etc. Ditch is a surfers beach and busy and the beach has suffered lots of erosion in the past couple years. It is lovely but there is no parking it is permit only and the tickets are high.

Beautiful in the mornings! Not very crowded and mainly friendly locals out on the water. Catch a lesson with Coreyswave if you'd like to learn. Surf is consistently good for beginners in the summer.
IMPORTANT: If you're visiting, none of the lots are open to cars without an East Hampton beach parking permit. I parked in the free lot at Shadmoor State Park and took the 20 min walk to Ditch. Phenomenal way to start the day with a clear mind!

Days long ago big local surfing beach. Now all Airbnb & rentals. No parking anywhere without town permit. Grab a Cab & bag a lunch. Definitely not for young families. Go to Heather Hills $8 fee for day but there are lifeguards, bathrooms, showers & playground. Bring a bag lunch cause most concessions closed w COVD. Lots of other kids & families at Hither Hills on beach. With Social distance in effect would be hard to do at Ditch, small beach great for surfers.

This beach is private, so a parking pass is necessary. Park at the public park of Shadmoor and walk through the trails. You will encounter amazing views of the ocean from on top of the bluffs. When you are done with the trails, you can walk right onto the beach and admire the bluffs from below.

Those of us who live and surf ditch, for many years, have watched our break become a zoo of kooks, hipsters and obnoxious selfies who don't know how to surf cuz they never learned etiquette. You all have ruined the break, but it's such an easy wave that any moron can and does paddle out. We don't want you here, we wish you'd drive while texting yourselves westward on the LIE.

"Ditch" is a rock bottom break that has been a draw for over 50 years. Parking is very limited and need Easthampton permit in season. Good vibe. The entire south side , starting at Ditch , is a rock bottom /point break all the way around lighthouse ( 4+ miles ). Can hold a big swell !

I've heard about this place and just had to check it out. It's mostly surfers and paddle boarders on this beach. Very hard to find parking, so just parked for a few minutes, took a few pics and then left. If you don't have a parking pass, you will get a ticket. They are notorious for giving tickets here. Other than that, nice place to see but tough to park.

The beach is a mecca for surfers and paddleboarders or those who like to watch both. Unparrallelled natural beauty. There are trails in the bluffs to hike as well. The beach is truly amazing. Parkning is limited to two smallish lots so come early or get dropped off. The lots require East Hampton permits which the loding establishments often provide.

Take the trip to Shadmoor instead. It is friendly, interesting and FREE. We were very disappointed that we would have risked a $200USD ticket if we parked to go to Ditch Plains. But, I get they are trying to protect residents of the area....

Where is parking for Ditch plains?

Yes Kevin, there is a lot adjacent to Ditch Plains which actually requires a Easthampton Permit, but I don't think you should have a problem this time of year [DEC.], but hay life is a gamble, so be guided, this is not a guarantee but I would take a chance this time of year. Also see other responses to your question. East Deck is right there so be guided by them. There is no legal street parking in this area- you must have a driveway to park. I have sometimes knocked on doors and offered to pay a small fee to neighbors to park on there property and avoid the tension of tickets. Hope this helps.

Hey Noah,
Do you know the best place for surfers to park at Ditch Plains? Can you get into the lots early?
Thanks,
