Just so Beautiful and peaceful this time of year! Must go and See ! Be really careful driving to “The Point” lots of Deer on side of Road. Stop by Gurney’s to warm up. Love Montauk in the Winter.

I took my family to see the lighting of the holiday lights on the lighthouse. It was certainly something to see! The event wasn't all that well organized. However, considering that it was free with an option for donation, I wasn't disappointed. The band playing...More

Worth the visit. Great views and at the very tip of Long Island. You can climb to the top of the lighthouse if you wish.

What an awesome experience! The power of the 50 mph wind and the raging 17 ft Seas. Unfortunately the light house was closed. I would have loved to have that view. Need to return in blue sky weather.

Unfortunately when we went it was closed. The closest we could get was to the closed sign. We were excited to see the actual lighthouse but we think it was closed since the weather was “not permitting”. We recommend you double check even if the...More

Driving thru Long Island (9 Replies)
I have never been to Long Island and thought I can do a side trip thru Long Island from MA to MD. We are booked for an early ferry ride from New London, CT to Orient Point, NY on a weekday in July from there I'm clueless. I read many previous posts but still confused? What places would you suggest for a quick best of Long Island Tour? Is there a scenic drive you can recommend? We plan to walk around Greenport then ??? What is the fee to enter Robert Moses Beach is worth a very short...More

Just did a bit more research and would like someone to advise if this is the best way to get from Orient Point to Montauk?.... Ferry from New London to Orient Point then drive to Greenpoint take the North Ferry to Shelter Island then take the South Ferry to Sag Harbor. How long would this journey take from Orient Point to Sag Harbor? How crowded are the North and South Ferries on a Thursday morning in July? Is it easier than it sounds?
