Picnic with a great view and Tennis Courts Too
Aug 2017 • Family
Attended a wedding at this outdoor park. There's a recreation area at the bottom of the mountain with well-maintained tennis courts, basketball court, an outdoor ice skating rink and swings. The swings are sort of hidden away at the end of the ice skating rink with no other things to do, not sure they get used to much. But the best part of Mt. Sabattis is the Pavilion. This pavilion is quite large, has about 30 picnic tables, a stage for concerts. People have catered weddings and family reunions up there. There's a great Labor Day BBQ with music and bonfire at the end of every summer thanks to the town and Long Lake Fire Department. It's also a great spot to have a family picnic because the views are awesome. They also have an annual craft fair at this space. It's definitely a unique location. And now there's a connecting trail to the Northville Lake Placid Hiking Trail that comes in at the top of Mt. Sabattis with even more outstanding views. This spur trail will be great for hikers looking to avoid hiking along route 28N to come into town for a night to rest, clean up, pick up mail or to grab a bite to eat. Definitely off the beaten path, but worth a visit. Check out events if there are any going on when you are in town.

Get a good topo map of the area and learn how to use a compass. Cell phone service and satellite GPS are hit and miss in this area. Great for day hikes or wilderness camping. Lots of trails, waterfront, camping , swimming and fishing. Highly recommended
