    Awesome Wine Tasting Experience
We visited Wagner on a tour of the Finger Lakes. Our host, had literally written the book on wine (it is for sale in the lobby) and he gave us an interesting overview of various grapes, their origin, why the Finger Lakes region is good for wine etc. He highly recommended the Riesling, which we rarely drink. It was awesome and we ended up buying a bottle. We also tried and purchased a Rose that was good as any we have had from CA or France. This is a fun experience and in addition to the wine tastes, you get to keep the glasses!
Thanks for taking the time to share your great experience when you visited. We're glad you learned a lot during your guided tasting and love to hear that you enjoyed the Riesling so much that you purchased a bottle to take with you! We hope you can come back again soon!

    Wonderful wine tasting experiences
We made a reservation and went for the regular wine tasting. We enjoyed it so much (specially liked the semi-dry Riesling) that we went back for the Library Wine Tasting; here you get to taste a recent and older version of the same wine and get to see the difference. This was also a lot of fun.
Thanks for taking the time to leave a review after your visits! We're glad you enjoyed it so much that you wanted to come back again to try our Library Wine tasting. We appreciate you letting us know you had fun tasting the different vintages as much as the regular current vintage tasting. We hope you can come back again soon!

Spectacular views and Austin was a great host!
Wagner cannot be beat. Most knowledgeable staff we encountered, Austin was an amazing host to us! The wines were our favourite along the trail, and the views are spectacular. We could've stayed here all day! Didn't get a chance to try the brewery, but the pours looked great. Definitely would go back!
Thanks for taking the time to share what made your visit excellent! We love hearing when our staff is able to help create a memorable experience. We hope you can come back again soon!

Wine Tasting with John Pulos at Wagner Vineyards
Wagner Vineyards is one of the top tier wineries in the FLX. Their wines are exceptional. Especially the Cabernet-Franc. I have been coming to Wagner for years. I aways make it a point to reserve a tasting John Pulos. John is a legend in the FLX. He is a former educator, restaurateur, and author. His knowledge of wines, the wine industry and the FLX are exemplary. Every time I taste with John I learn some thing new. I highly recommend Wagner Winery and a reserve Tasting with John Pulos. You will be impressed and walk away with knowledge from the tasting experience! Cheers!!
Thanks for taking the time to leave such a great review of your guided wine tasting with John! We're glad you have enjoyed learning some of the vast knowledge that John has to share about the region, the wine, and Wagner Vineyards. We hope you can come back again soon!

    Great Winery, Brewery, and Restaurant!
We loved this place for all it offered. We scheduled a Library Reserve tasting which was nice. They did a comparison tasting with the standard wines to their reserve wines. We also had lite bites from their Ginnie Lee restaurant and did a flight of Octoberfest and like beers. We bought several bottles of wine and had our growler filled with their new Octoberfest feature Lager. Beautiful grounds right on Seneca Lake and a wonderful time spent! Don’t miss this while visiting as it offers so much in one stop.
Thanks for sharing your great experience! We're thrilled to hear that you had a wonderful time and were able to enjoy wine, beer, and lunch during your visit. We hope you can come back again soon!

    John Pulos is the best
My wife and I met John Pulos during a wine tasting in October 2022. I don't much care for wine myself (I had a beer from the brewery) but you're getting far more than a tasting when you're with him. He happily shared his vast knowledge of wine, its history, and the region. His dry sense of humor is refreshing from the snobbery you can often find around wine. When we visited the finger lakes a year later, we made it a point to visit Wagner and, thankfully, managed another tasting with John. It's a unique experience. You absolutely will not get this anywhere else in the region. Looking forward to another visit in in 2024!
Thanks for leaving a great review of your visit! We love hearing that our guests had fun while learning all about wine and had a memorable experience. We hope to see you again soon!

    Wagner Wines are exceptional!
We went on the recommendation of my long time friend and your distributor, Bob Trimble from PA. We sat down and John Poulos, was fun, educational, quick witted and just a blast to learn from. He made the event outstanding and after hearing about his background as a teacher and restaurant owner, I knew it would be great. John made our time tasting great wine so much fun. My friend Bob was right, it’s a must stop on the tasting trail.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and share what made your visit great! We are lucky to have John in our tasting room with his wealth of knowledge and a knack for sharing it in a fun and memorable way. We hope you can come back again soon!

    Wine tasting with John
Our wine tasting experience with John was amazing. We specifically came back to Wagners to wine taste with him. He had a great blend of knowledge, passion, and engagement that captivated us unlike any other. We know more about wine and the merlot blackbird all because of him. Strongest recommendation if you love history and wine to reserve John on the whole hour for a tasting at Wagners. A total must.
Thanks for taking the time to write such a lovely review! We love hearing when visitors get to have a truly enjoyable experience while learning. We hope you can come back again soon!

We made a reservation for an indoor wine tasting figuring it was a nice way to spend a little time on a rainy day and it was way more than that. Our guide was John and his knowledge of the history of wine and the region was phenomenal. He took us each on our own personal wine tasting based on our likes and we each found our tastings perfect. I really liked how he gave us the background and info about the wine before we tasted and let us determine what we found. We are no wine experts despite enjoying wine and visiting wineries and I never felt intimidated which was nice. Plus I learned why I most likely get such headaches from red wine and it’s not the sulfites as I once thought! He definitely went above and beyond and never rushed us which made it a really wonderful afternoon for the two of us. We each found a bottle or two to purchase for home upon leaving. Definitely recommend this experience.

Stopped for a tasting in mid September. So glad to see that Wagner's is adhering to all of the new protocols in this new era. We were fortunate enough to have a tasting with John. Certainly not your average tasting. We were treated to one of the most enjoyable hours we have spent in the Finger Lakes. We were educated not only on the origins of the winery, but the origins of the grapes themselves. This man really has a passion for the area and the entire industry. On top of that, the wines were really excellent. We are more into the dry reds, which were all great, but the whites were equally impressive. My personal favorite was the Caywood East dry Reisling, The beers are also very good, If time allows, we recommend a lunch stop at the Ginny Lee Cafe. Great food, wonderful views of the winery and vineyards, and a great drink menu featuring Wagner beers and wines by the glass or bottle .This place really has something for everyone.
Keep up the great work John and Wagner's

My small family group went in for a tasting. It was off season. Particularly it was a Tuesday morning in February. Which was very lucky for us as our tasting guide, Johnny Pulos, had ample time to concentrate on our experience. If you're tasting various wineries and cellars in the Finger Lakes, you get used to the experience. What Johnny offered was so much more. It was part comedy show and part historical lesson on the wines of Wagner and wine making in the Finger Lakes. He took his time on each wine; what made it unique, what gave it character, why this grape works so well in the Finger Lakes, etc. Instead of telling you what you were about to taste he simply told you about the wine itself and let your mouth make its own decision about what it experienced and how it felt. Given the time and care that he put into taking us on a tour it made it easy to see how that same time and care were put into Wagner's wines. At the end of the day we chose 5 to take home with us and have been beyond pleased with each choice. If you are touring wineries on Seneca lake it would be a gigantic mistake not to make Wagner a centerpiece location.

John was the most knowledgeable and passionate wine guide we have encountered in all our years of visits to the Finger Lakes. We had him a few years ago and when we arrived we saw him and immediately wanted to listen to his knowledge again. He is the absolute best and it made our trip much more enjoyable.
Thank you for sharing your vast wealth of knowledge (not just for wines) with us, we really appreciated it and enjoyed it.
Cheers to health and happiness. Thanks John

We have gone to plenty of Finger Lakes Wineries for the past few years. For what ever reason this was our first stop at Wagner. And, our first outing this year due to COVID. We made reservations for a tasting online before we arrived. Our tasting was inside and we were well protected. Seating was well spaced and there was a plexiglass shield between us and the server. Glasses were carefully placed to protect us and the server.
Our server, "wine guide", was very knowledgeable and made the experience worth while.
The winery has a nice shop with lots of interesting items for sale in addition to the wines.
The winery offers the pre-arranged tastings and there were others who were ordering flights and sitting outside; had not made prior arrangements.
The grounds overlook Seneca Lake so a beautiful setting. There is a large gravel parking lot.
They have a restaurant on site. We didn't eat there.

If you stop at only one winery in the Finger Lakes, stop at Wagner!

We knew we were in the right place when, as the first customers of the day, we were escorted to the tasting room where loud rock music was playing (kids might call it "classic" rock, but it was just plain old rock) and the gentleman behind the bar (who some might also call "classic") turned the music down, and then back up saying that we could rock together. Not a bad start!

John turned out to be hands-down the most informed and informative wine-tasting guide that we have ever met... and we have tasted a glass or two of wine over the years!

John presented us with a selection of wines that was nothing short of fantastic, and educated us on the history of each grape as we went. Knowing a fair bit about wine and grapes, not to mention being the owner of a small vineyard (I didn't mention that part, John :) ), I was nothing less than amazed by the amount of research and knowledge that resided in John's mind that was presented to us in a manner that was easily digested.

Never were we coached on what we would be tasting (e.g. "notes of plums and minerals...") but rather given information with which we could enjoy the wine for what it is and the craftsmanship that went into it.

As the first stop of the day, John mentioned that it would be all downhill from there, and indeed it was. While we tasted some great wines during the remainder of our trip, the Wagner selections stood out as excellent, and the other tasting experiences paled in comparison. We departed after a brief 90 minutes, better for the experience, and looking forward to our next visit.

We'll return to the Finger Lakes at some point, and Wagner will be a mandatory stop.

We chose Wagner as one of the stops during a group tour with 16 of us. They were easy to work with in advance to schedule the group - responsive, informative, welcoming, efficient. They were our first stop of the day. Beautiful grounds. Winery and Brewery were terrific. The staff were informative and made it very fun. We got to keep our tasting glasses from the winery - pretty cool. The brewery had some really nice brews available for tasting. It was a nice switch from wine. A lot of people in our group bought from the the brewery. November was a nice time to visit, as their were not huge crowds, and the weather was still pretty decent. We had a great time!

What a wonderful place to start our wine tasting journey. I’ve never been to the Finger Lakes before and decided to join my mother and some friends on a little vacation. Upon telling John at Wagner Vineyards this info, he took me under his wing and taught me everything there is to know about the region, each type of wine, and the history behind it all. John is by far the most personable, knowledgeable, and upbeat man I’ve met in a while. He teaches you in such a captivating way and really knows how to pinpoint your preferences for wine. From the way John describes the tastes of each selection, to painting a culinary experience on your imaginative taste buds, pairing wine with his suggestions for courses from start to finish of a meal, Wagner really struck gold in the combination of their staff and their incredible wines. After this awesome experience, I can say with certainty that I will be visiting again! Thank you!

We had the best tasting experience in the Finger Lakes at Wagner with John Pulos!!! John was so knowledgeable and shared so many interesting details and stories about the wine, grapes and more. The world's most interesting man and great wines to top! We capped our afternoon with lunch at Wagner's Cafe, Ginny Lee that offers great views of the lake. Wagner is at the top of our list of wineries in the Finger Lakes and we visited more than 20 during our trip. And highly recommend purchasing a copy of John's book, for sale at the winery.

If there was such an award, John Pulos would surely own it. Imagine a hybrid of the world’s most interesting mortal paired with a wine diety- I give you, John! His energy and enthusiasm were contagious. I challenge anyone to find a more engaging talent/educator in the FLX. We were all grateful to spend an enchanting and educational hour at Wagner with John and his protege, Andy. DO NOT miss out on this experience!
