Great - but some parts not worth it.
Mar 2021
My friends and I did a day stay at their cabin. It's comfortable 1-room (there's a loft with seating, too) that is heated. There's no running water, so you have to make your way to the main building (not far at all) to use the bathroom. You can also call up if you need anything brought to you. We preordered a couple of bottles of wine, sangria (all good) and a few sandwiches. The sandwiches were good, too, and came with tortilla chips and grapes. We also paid for the s'mores package (12.50 a person) That was a total rip off. There were 7 of us, so it cost $87.50 for the s'mores which was a bag of regular marshmallows with a best before date that was two months earlier than our visit, 4 hershey bars and a box of cinnamon graham crackers (the cinnamon was weird) that were from Aldi. So, we paid $87.50 for maybe $7 worth of low quality stuff. I thought they were going to be gourmet s'mores with homemade marshmallows, etc. like you get in Niagara on the Lake. Live and Learn! We did have a firepit and enjoyed sitting around roasting the stale marshmallows! The cabin was great if you have a small group.

LUNCH at Spring Lake Winery's Cafe !!!!
Sep 2020
I had been to this place before in order to walk the trails, but this was the first time I had lunch there. They were serving lunch outside on a very large patio overlooking the lake. The menu is small and the prices are reasonable. Service is friendly and efficient. I am sure I will return in the future. They were offering wine tastings which my friend and I declined, but I could see that they were very generous "tastes" from what was given to other customers.

Had a great time here! Beautiful spot. Good wine and food! Shady spot by Spring Lake. Big patio and yard to sit and sip!

Great Nature Trails
May 2020
SPRING LAKE WINERY offers some great, well maintained hiking trails. Apparently, they are open to the public, even if you do not go into the winery and/or buy wine. I call this GOOD (potential) CUSTOMER SERVICE. Next time I go, I will go into the winery and maybe purchase a bottle of wine.

Spring Lake Winery Murder Mystery Vineyard Express
Oct 2019
We (four of us) bought VIP tickets for the excursion. We did have VIP seating on the train, received two bottles of wine and two cheese plates. We were enjoying ourselves for the first half of the trip. All employees were very friendly and helpful. It was a murder mystery excursion as well but not all of the play participants spoke with us on the train so it wasn't easy to figure out who the murderer was.

When we arrived at the vineyard, we all immediately got in line for the dinner buffet. It was only 3:00. Dinner was suppose to be served at 4:00. Also the meal wasn't what was advertised. We were suppose to get a stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes, veggie, etc. What we go was a chicken thigh/leg that was so small that I'm sure it came from a Cornish Hen. No mashed potatoes but there was pasta, salad, rolls. Also, there wasn't any dessert which we were suppose to get. And, no preferred seating.

It was way too long to sit there after dinner till the time the train left (6:05). It was $250/couple and that is too much for what we received. We all were very disappointed.

murder mystery wine train
Oct 2019
On oct. 6, 2019 4 of us took the murder mystery/wine train ride. Well, not what we expected. Let me say this winery is one of our favorites on the wine trail, so we were looking forward to this trip. We purchased first class tickets $125/person and we expected a lot for this price, but did not get it. The bottled wine served on the train was very sub-par from what we are accustomed to from this winery (a zin and a sav blanc). . As we looked through our car, 4 people got 4 bottles, 2 people across from us got 2 bottles, we know they didn't pay extra for this. Train ride was nice. Got to winery for dinner and it was a good walk to dinner, as advertised. We were supposed to have preferred seating, that never happened, we were lucky to find a table the 4 of us could sit at. Buffet was out as we walked in, and it was different from advertised on line when we booked plus there was no dessert. Now we were to have open beer/wine included in our ticket, well it seems everyone got the free beer/wine. People at our table who went tourist class, were laughing everytime they came back with free drinks. We went to the bar a few times and no one was checking any wrist bands. Too long at the winery, a lot of people including us were on train very early too much time at winery. This was not well planned, nor any special treatment for first class who paid much more than the tourist class. We got robbed. Would we do this again? Never. Very disappointed in our favorite winery.

Vineyard Express Murder Mystery
Oct 2018 • Friends
We took the First class train the end of October. If the weather had been better my review would be much better. However, it was cold and damp the entire day. We were with a large group some of whom arrived at the train station by 11 am. The train station was locked and people had to stand outside in the cold until we boarded which was after 12 p.m. There were no lavatory facilities for the people standing outside. We noticed that the truck with supplies for the train trip were being loaded after 12 o’clock causing people to wait even longer before boarding. The train personnel was very friendlly and tried to accommodate everyone. We took the train to the museum which was well worthwhile We were there over an hour. From there we went to the vineyard There is quite a long walk from the train to the winery but they had golf carts to transport people if needed. As we approached the winery we could see the buffet tables were set up outside and a portable tent structure was attached to the winery where we would have dinner. They had heaters inside to try to keep the place warm but it was misting, cold and damp. We had our buffet dinner right away so we were finished eating by 3:30 -3-:45. The train does not board to return until 6:15 pm which was an extremely long time between eating and returning to the station . The buffet was very good. We had salad, mashed potatoes, stuffing and turkey. There were cookies for dessert. A band entertained the crowd and the bar was serving wine, beer and some cocktails. Their website should tell people that they would be eating under a tent-like structure. They do say to dress appropriately but on a cold, fall day it was not comfortable. There is one room inside where some people could sit but was not big enough for everyone on the train. The murder mystery was cute and the characters were enthusiastic and you could tell they wanted to engage the audience.

Wine Tasting
Oct 2018 • Friends
Bar area was small. Outdoor area was very large. View of lake was nice, leaves were starting to turn. This was an old sand pit that is spring fead so water is clear. Great host ! Wine was very good but not produced with grapes grown at the winery.

Wine and Lunch
Aug 2018 • Couples
My husband I came here on a beautiful Sunday to check out the winery and have lunch. The views by the lake/pond are gorgeous. The wines are decent, but we were less than impressed with the food. My husband’s grilled chicken sandwich had the most overdone, hard and dry piece of chicken on it. My turkey wrap had ONE thin slice of turkey in the entire wrap. Would no recommend the food, but would come again just for the beautiful location.

They made my day with the excellent and creative wine ice cream!!! It had real fruit in it! And the splash of delicious white wine in the peach ice cream is the way to go!
