Same artist. Visit her studio in Youngstown. She is working on a large new sculpture for Lewiston and you will be duly impressed.

I have lived in this area all my life. The War of 1812 is a history on both sides of the Niagara River. The English [Canada] and the U.S. Both sides were attacking all along the river. Not only attacking but burning, looting and scalping. When the English attacked Lewiston they proceeded to set it ablaze. The Tuscarora Indians helped the fleeing residents to safety. The prominent bronze stature commemorate this feat. I encourage any one that is interested in history of the area to read some of the great books. They are available at the library and the Museum.

a must see sight and good photo opportunity location. Located right next to Hibbards Custard stand a Lewiston time honored stop for ice cream treats.

This is a large scale bronze monument that was recently dedicated to thank the local Tuscarora Nation for saving the lives of the Lewiston citizens during the War of 1812 British attack on the village. A nice place to relax while enjoying a Hibbard's custard you can get right next door.

Stopped by Hibbard's for custard and enjoy the statuary nearby. It is hard to imagine that in the War of 1812 there were people dying in the streets of Lewiston. Seeing these statues brings to life the rescue of many townspeople by the Tuscarora Nation heroes who helped them.

This monument is a beautiful and meaningful commemoration to the Tuscarora Indians who gave help to the villagers in Lewiston when they were attacked and houses burned by the British during the War of 1812. Figures are very lifelike with impressive "movement" instilled in the poses. A significant addition to the village landscape and good history lesson for those who do not know the incident.

I really wanted to know "the rest of the story". What happened after the event depicted in the monument? Were the relations from that point forward positive, or like so much of our history, did it turn a little ugly later. Just curious.

Such a dramatic sculpture. Could not pass it by but needed to experience it. Historical and socially relevant to all. Local history brought to life for all visitors.
