Clean, quaint, great views, & good restaurants. You can get discounted rates on the Friday after Thanksgiving that are good for certain times outside of peak dates. The Cottage Cafe across street is great. Like an apres ski vibe and right on lake so you can watch skaters or dogsleds. It is sooo beautiful in the winter with all the white lights up that stay up throughout the winter.

This lake which borders downtown Lake Placid is a real gem. It is gorgeous. Often the clouds are reflected in the still water. It is peaceful because they don't allow motorized boats. That leaves a lot of room for stand-up paddleboards, row boats, kayaks, etc.
On July 4th they also do a great fireworks show at 9:30pm (from the park at the southern end) which you can see from just about anywhere on the lake. I took some amazing photos of the fireworks reflected off the surface of the lake. I have also taken great shots over the lake (from the great Golden Arrow resort) at sunrise (around 5:30pm in summer).

Mirror Lake is absolutely lovely. At times during the day it is just like a mirror with waters reflecting its surroundings in the calm water. The lake is great for swimming, canoeing or other water activities. One may stroll around the lake on sidewalks and through Lake Placid. Staying on the lake is magical, and sunsets reflecting on the lake are spectacular.

Mirror Lake is still as beautiful as we remembered from 25 years ago, but the area didn’t feel the same. It’s all hotels. And it’s under construction now so there is only 1 lane through town, and parking is difficult and fee-structured. We did drop-off shopping. The other side of Mirror Lake is still peaceful. Travel a few miles to see beautiful, peaceful lakes and ponds.

Where do you park if you are not staying here? The whole area was under construction and the only place I could find to park had a bunch of meter folks out there putting tickets on windows. After a 2 hour drive I came to Lake Placid and couldn't do a a darn thing. I guess if you are staying within walking distance of the downtown it would be cute- if you are just driving there for the day- don't bother.

We are here staying at the Mirror Lake Inn in Lake Placid, NY, as usual this place is amazing. We checked in yesterday and will be here till Sunday. We are staying in the cottage house (room L2) to be exact, the way the room is presented online does it no justice. We have two full bathrooms, two full separate bedrooms (which is perfect space for just sitting back for adult time with some cold beverages), the space is well worth the money, along with the service and hospitality that you receive from the staff. A huge shoutout to Jessica down at the beach. She has the patients of a saint, kids asking for this boat, that kayak and her attitude was nothing but amazing, she is just another perfect example of why this place should be rated 10 stars and not 4.

Beautiful. Stayed in Crown plaza hotel over looking lake. Lovely. Unimpressed with “walk around lake” Though. Looking for easy walk for a break “recovery day” day after hiking mt colden. The walk around the lake consisted of a view of the lake for less than 1/4 of the time. Remaining time consisted of walking through a nice neighborhood with a few glimpses of the lake through their backyards. Nice but NOT a walk around the the lake. Great area. Would definitely visit again.

We've been going to Lake Placid and staying on Mirror Lake for years and are always eager to get back.
This review is specific to Covid-19 and 2020.
In town, you must wear a mask and shops are limiting the number of patrons who can enter at a time.
The walk around the lake is 2.7 flat miles with lovely lake views and interesting, beautiful homes. It's dog friendly. It's still best to have a mask ready for when you pass other walkers or runners. This year, they are replacing the red bricks with cement sidewalks, but the plaques for all 46 peaks are still there in the sidewalk. The construction does interfere a bit with the walk, but not too much.
The public beach, just outside of town, is also limiting patrons, but our group did not have to wait long for a spot any of the times we went.
In other years, there are concerts in the park, but of course, this year they couldn't do that.
You can rent a kyak or a paddle board. Watch out for swimmers, though. No motorized watercraft are allowed on Mirror Lake, so it's a delightful place to do all those things.
You can also fish from a boat or the bank.

What a stunning & beautiful lake! Picture-perfect. An ideal summer morning, sipping coffee overlooking the lake. There are no motorized vehicles allowed on the lake, so there is a rare sense of peacefulness & tranquility to soak in.
Watching the people in canoes, paddleboards, and enjoying the sunshine and birds. What a wonderful place. Highly HIGHLY recommend. ♥

Unfortunately, this is a lake you can only see by boat. However, that didn't matter. We enjoyed the boat ride and looking at all the beautiful Adirondack style houses that are built around the lake. It was a beautiful day. Our captain of the boat was very informative and had some great stores to tell. He even had a great suggestion of where to find a great

Many ways. There is a public beach by the ice rink end of town if you are just day tripping through. Sometimes they have a slide to go down but not sure this year with COVID. Some hotels have beaches and I recommend Golden Arrow for budget minded or Mirror Lake inn for those wanting top notch resort. The other way to go is renting a house on other side of lake that has beach access. Plenty of options.

How late into March and April does the lake stay frozen for activities on it. Understand, it's weather dependent, but generally speaking, is the lake still frozen the first week of April?

We were able to swim the course at any time during the week. It is so cool that you can clearly see and follow the cable! Good luck!!
Can you bring a dog?

Yes, that is one of the reasons we went to the area. Many hotels are pet friendly as is the town.

Are we able to bring our own kayaks to Mirror Lake? If so, where would we be able to put them in?
Thank you,

There is a small sandy beach where you should be able to take your kayaks to embark. parkside Street would be your nearest street.
Is there snowshoeing there? If so are there rentals and what is the cost?

How can you go about finding out about the dog sleds? Can you make a reservation? Will they still be running in February?

Dog sled rides are on mirror lake right out the back door of the Golden Arrow hotel and right next to the toboggan slide. Can't miss them.
We did not need a reservation. Just walked up, paid the sled owner and had a great ride.
How do you access the 2.7 mile path around Mirror Lake
Bob R
Lancaster, PA42 contributions
The path is more of a "sidewalk" that wraps around the lake. Walk out the front door of any of the buildings on Main Street lake side and start walking in either direction. It is literally that simple!
We will be up in Lake Placid the weekend of June 2. Well the paddleboard be available for rental
