Enjoyed the scenery and commentary given by the staff as we rode through the mountains. This is a family type outing, so be prepared. There were a lot of families. But the staff make it clear the children have to behave. It was very romantic...More

This trip is too expensive and takes way too long. Forty-five minutes one way and then only a fifteen minute layover. I'd rather drive between these two villages and enjoy what they both have to offer.

The trip is nice but not that much better than just driving the 12 miles. It is fun for very young kids.

We had an absolutely beautiful day for our scenic round trip train ride to Saranac Lake. We boarded at the beautiful Lake Placid station. Rosie (the engine) got us moving towards Saranac Lake, in the slow lumbering way that only a train can do. We...More

I think it was around an hour ride from Lake Placid to Saranac and we had maybe hour to hour 1/2 in Saranac for lunch and shopping.
