Not a bad trip. The weather did not cooperate as well as we wanted but it was interesting. Would only recommend the outdoor car which is just a car with no windows. You are still protected from most elements. All the staff we came in contact with were very nice & friendly. There is a controversy over converting the rails... More

Nice trip for fall foliage, although it would have been nice to have some elevation change. I had thought this was the train ride I saw long ago on National Geographic Channel, but having taken the trip I don't think it was the same one. We thought the gondola would be problematic in bad weather, and it was raining when... More

I bought tickets for my wife & I for the Fall Foliage ride from Lake Placid to Saranac Lake. This is a busy time & we left a bit late to give everyone in line a chance to get their tickets. The ride itself was nice. Keep in mind you're riding through woods & sometimes folks backyards. You do get... More

My boyfriend and I took the Fall Foliage tour aboard the Adirondack Scenic Railroad from Lake Placid to Saranac Falls in late September. It was a beautiful ride and nice way to see the changing leaves. It was chilly morning but we sat in the open air car and really enjoyed the crisp morning air. It took about 45 minutes... More

My girlfriend and I took a trip to Lake Placid for some fall foilage for her birthday. We have always talked about going on the railroad so for her birthday we did. The train staff was very helpful and informative. The train is older but it ran very well. It was 45 minutes to saranac Lake and 45 minutes back... More

The train needs a lot of work, they don't have the money..The cars are old..No real crowds on a thursday afternoon in the summer. The ride was nice, scenic, but I've been on nicer train rides.. The volunteers were wonderful.

This is a nostalgic, quant train ride that was enjoyable. These wonderful attractions will be a of the past if we don't support all the efforts that many volunteers put into these types of attractions. The only thing they can do to improve on the tour is to give a more historic oration of the area while in route.

We were anticipating more scenery. We saw woods, beaver dams. These are things that are native to our local home area and that we see routinely. The volunteer staff are friendly, entertaining and fun. The ride is disappointing at best, and you are not able to see the town of Lake Placid.

Rode to Saranac Lake on the 10:30 train and it was a beautiful peaceful ride, rode in the open car and it was cool and breezy. Takes about 50 minutes and that's just right to take in great blue herons, beavers and ducks and a nice doe. Had lunch and a little shopping in Saranac and back on the 1:00... More

We took the rail from Lake Placid to Saranac Lake and back. On the way there, we rode in the open car, which gave us a great opportunity to take pictures over the beautiful landscapes. The ride was narrated by one of the railroad workers and he was funny and informative. We opted for the 1 1/2 hour layover in... More
