Short hike up the mountain, about 1 hour climb. Great payoff for a bit of an effort. Fantastic view from up top. Not for someone with physical challenges. Lots of rocks to climb up and fairly steep at some points. We are fit 50 somethings...More

I loved this trail! It starts at the ADK trail site where a number of sites begin. The trail is somewhat challenging since it involves rock scrambling and a quick decent, but the rewards are fantastic! You can swim in the lake below after you...More

Great view worth climbing to the ( a bit steep) end. We met a really nice ADK worker up there, who happily shared her knowledge of the area and it's stories, with us.

Love to hike on the top of the mount Jo with my kids (12 and 9). The view from the top is worth every step on the way.

My fiance proposed on this mountain in 2014. I am planning to get married on top of here in 2016 (if this can even be possible.) Wonderful views for such a small mountain and it is an easy first hike. (This was my first mountain...More

Great hike! Our book rated it as easy but I would put it in the moderate range with some scrambling towards the top. Great views

Our family of 7 are used to hiking in the Old Forge area. Mount Jo was presented as an easy family hike and ok to bring a dog. Uh-uh! Great hike, but definitely a little challenging, especially towards the top with all the rock. Small...More

A great little mountain to climb when you want a lot of view for not so much time and work to get up to the top. That is not to say that there is no work involved, but the pain is short and the view...More

I would say there's a few different routes if you want to spend all day there or even a few hours. We did the shortest trek and I'd say it about 4 miles and it took us all day because of the incline. If you're an... More

Lake Placid has a free trolley service that runs through the main parts of town. I don't think it runs out to Mt. Jo, which is about a 10-15 minute drive from Main Street. There may be special drop offs requested but you... More
