On 2/24 I had texted the number on their website, general questions as I was planning a winter horseback ride for my wife on her birthday. They answered all questions and I booked that day, $210. The day before our appointment, I texted the number just to check in, but didn't Hear back, but I had paid $210 and received a confirmation online, so I decided it was probably safe to drive the 300 miles EACH WAY from New York City for my wife's day. We got there at 1pm, gate locked.... waited until 1:20pm, began texting and calling, voicemail box full. Left and went to town, called other numbers, no luck. Went back at almost 2pm, saw a man behind the gate, so yelled at him for help, he approached and said the trail was closed due to ice, and said I should have heard from someone, I said 'obviously I didn't or we wouldn't have drove 300 miles', but I understand it wasn't his fault. We leave and head back to NYC, day ruined, and at 3:30pm, the company TEXTs me, and offers a 4pm ride...30 mins from the random text, no apologies no phone call, just explained the trail WAS ICEY. I was too upset to even text back, as my wife's birthday was wasted driving 300 miles TWICE for nothing. I texted back later I wanted a refund, and I emailed a week ago that I want a refund. No Response. I am now pursuing legal action to get my $210 back. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

I write this aware of the mixed reviews of this business. I can only speak for my experience, so that is all I will mention in this review. A friend and I went on a half-day trail ride today, and we had a great experience. Our guide, Travis, was knowledgeable, professional, conversational, and cared about the horses and how we were doing throughout the ride. When we arrived, Travis met us at the gates to let us in. Ava, the friendly ranch dog, showed us up to the barn. The safety video we were shown before riding was instructive and helpful, especially to my friend, who had never ridden before. We were provided with helmets, Travis made sure we understood how to steer, stop, and tell the horses to go, and we set off without issues. The ride was very pleasant, and we had friendly conversation the whole way. Our horses, Dakota and Munchie, were well-behaved and reliable, and all three looked well cared-for. Ava followed us the entire way, her tail wagging. We ended with lunch (provided for us) and pictures at a scenic vista. A great experience overall.

We booked a private ride here based on reviews on Trip Advisor. The reviews were spot on, the experience was memorable and unique. None of us had ever been horseback riding before, and were given expert instruction and safety protocol before we rode. Our guide, Maria, was knowledge and friendly. The horses were beautiful and obviously well trained and cared for. The fact that these animals were rescued from certain death made the experience that much more special. This activity will not be forgotten by our family and was one of the favorite things we did in Lake Placid.

We booked a private tour for my daughter and I and had a great time. We were met by the owner, Trevor, who was a great guy, very knowledgeable about the area and it was clear he was very caring about his - more than - 40 horses of which some are rescue horses. As long as you don’t expect to have gallops and trots, as the terrain ( and insurance) is not suitable for that, you will have an amazing time. I thought the instruction video was very good as a reminder for all levels of riders and it ensures people are more careful how to handle their horses, as the owner genuine cares for its animals. I have no hesitation to recommend this place!
