Any time we get the opportunity we head up to Mt. Van Hoeveberg to cross country ski. It's a great complex, filled with trails for beginners to expert. Very well groomed trails and good sized lodge with a well stocked shop.

Last day of a ski vacation with unusually warm February vacation and wanted to do some cross country skiing before heading back home. Show up at mvh early morning and preceded to complete paperwork do rentals and ticket purchase. Other than a mention of discounted lift tickets, only the gentleman at the rental booth mentioned he had heard it was... More

ideal day trip to cross country ski on the myriad of trails traversing the beautiful forest. well maintained, olympic quality (because it WAS the trails used), very nice and reasonable ski rentals (76 for 2 people to rent skis, ski pass for the day), and the bar after had nice home cooked food. Perfect way to get acquainted with cross... More

My second son took my fourth son mtn biking while the dog and I walked around. I have biked here with the family before. The staff was very friendly. Bikes are supplied through High Peaks Cyclery. They bikes are kept well. Plenty of trails. They have picnic tables, too, so I suppose you can pack lunch.

This mountain is a good warm up level before tackling the higher ones. It is close to Lake Placid. It has a nice view. Only slighlty less than 3000 feet.

Have come up here cross country skiing for years. Tough winter but were lucky to have snow this year and they did a good job building the base. For the second year in a row very disappointed in the grooming in that for a busy weekend- they either didn't groom( last year) and only did 1/2 the trails this year.... More

I took the shorter trail to the summit b/c I had been watching the bobsledders training sessions. Paid $4 for access to the bobsled track and trail. This is the easier way to the summit. Not very steep for most of trail until you reached end of the maintained part. Rather muddy the day I hiked. Still not as strenuous... More

The forest we went through was beautiful but if you expect views you will not find them here. You only reach a little terrace at the end of the path, and you can look back at where you came from. In the distance some of the 46ers can be seen

We did this hike based on TripAdvisor recommendations and we were rewarded. This trail was about 4.4 miles round trip and we did it while it was snowing. The trail was well marked and we had no problems despite the very wet and muddy trail. If you dress for the conditions you will have no issues. The trail starts with... More
