It all started early evening, 6:20 pm in the Kenyan time. i board a pajero pick up from a friend and packed my stuff for survival. Started my journey @ around 7:00. It took me an hour and a half to reach my junction. On the way, my pick up experienced a slight mud slide of which it had rained the previous day. I was in the company of the SOPONSAFARIS of Kenya, stationed in NAIROBI & NAKURU. We sojourned there by 8:24 of the same night. with heed to swim, I just wasted no second and lighted from the car and springily sped up for swimming. WOW! WHAT A COOL MOONLIGHT SWIM. This all had happened after a cool and welcoming by the director, Mrs. Kristine, a TURKANA woman who had been raised around since birth. CAN YOU IMAGINE SPENDING THREE DAYS AROUND THERE? ............................

My first time to Lake Turkana, I didnt know what to expect. I was overwhelmed by the beauty of the Lake side, the pristine sun, sand on the lovely beaches. I stayed in tents at Kristine tented camp which were very adequate for the hot nights. The food was excellent for the location, fresh fish right from the lake, lots of ugali, meat and fruits. We were a large group that had gone for team building and to get rid of stress management and we definitely accomplished our mission.

We also took a boat ride to Eliye Springs at only KES200 per person which is quite reasonable. The resort at Eliye Springs looks quite neat, but since we were not staying there cant comment on the rooms.

The bathrooms and toilets are well maintained, we only stayed for 3 days, i wish it was longer...

This tranquil lodge is perfectly located in the springs of Eliye and surrounded with date palms that provide the much desired shade.

At Eliye Springs Resort time becomes timeless as every moment goes by unnoticed. This is an amazing destination to get lost in as you reconnect to you inner-self.

I first had a trip to Kristine's Camp site for a night, swam, had fun with friends; Keffa and Kennedy of SoponSafaris in Kenya. Took with us khat (miraa) and some colds for refreshment. Drove by a double cabin maroon hilux toyota to the place.
We took supper for Kshs. 450/= (ugali and meat with some veges). Had a boom of music in the vehicle since I like deejaying.Traveled for about 50 mins to that place.
In the sunrise, I took with myself some clips and headed for beach side. Had a cold swim n back to others. At 12:00 they accompanied me to Eliye Springs camp site. We viewed the source of the spring and got some brochures before leaving for our camp site. We relaxed for an hour before traveling back to Lodwar, my town: ramadhankadhar@yahoo.com

We had a great trip in Turkana, visited Central Island, Sibiloi National Park and spent a great night in Lodwar. Eliye spring resort has good food, great food and facilities for the location BUT we had a terrible experience with the owner, super arrogant and playing on his monopoly on the western shore of Lake Turkana, where you have to pass by if you come by flight. Having read the comments below, we were expecting a cool guy trying to arrange trips in such a remote location but he talked to us as we were dogs.

We stayed here for 2 nights, which was barely enough as we missed North Island and the National Park on the other side of the Lake. Hoewever, Middle Island volcanoes are well worth a visit, all 3 of them, as to is a swim in the Lake next to the hot water springs. I would like to visit again sometime and spend a few more days.
