dont forget also to visit this place and you can take nice photos from here, with my guide SAMI or SAMUEL we ended my tour in tomb of Adam, but outside expect there will be male guys and children waiting for you to sell their stuff and heard some cases got scammed so be careful, once tou entertained them for them it is already considered sold hahaha they will be persistent and might be annoying so just say no and just walk, keep your valuables as well esp mobile phone, but of all these things it is still beautiful to see Lalibela.

This isn't a church...it's a doorway to the church complex. It's not what I expected by the name, Walk through here on the way in or out to explore the churches. We used it as an exit. I think it'd be a lovely entry to begin your exploration...to set the scene for what's inside.

Tomb of Adam can be missed easily unless your guide shows you, normally most guides did shows it. But, if with out guide and finished with visiting Bete Michael, wait for other tourist with guide and walk together with them out towards Bete Georgies.

It was amazing to go through these churches dating more than 700 years and still in use. King Lalibela wanted to recreate Jerusalem in Ethiopia. Imagine the work involved in excavating the bedrock around and inside these churches and creating arches for support by excavating around them. Visiting these sites is an experience never to be forgotten.

Very significant and symbolic ancient building carved out of single rock like many monolithic churches of Lalibela. Words can’t explain what is Lalibela’s rock hewn churches. They are one of the wonders of the world simply missed for bing in Africa especially in Ethiopia.

To be honest the rock hewn churches start to meld into one after a while apart from the iconic cross shaped St George's, but it is still worth visiting most of them as they are all so very different.

You should go here however with a guide to explain what you see & the history of it. Amazing & worth the trip.

This is a small place and part of the church itinerary. Probably you will be so tired that the main focus is on rest and return. But, worth to visit, obviously.

Great place to first enter and realize where you are in ancient history. Photos from these steps make a great memory. The trenches are not difficult but just remember you need to remove your shoes at every entrance. We kept a very nice shoe lady with us most of our days to watch over our hiking boots. It the end we paid her for her care and watchful eye. What an experience. Don't miss this entrance/
