Fantastic views when you get to the clearing at the top, well worth the effort. You can just sit and gaze at the lake for hours. The hike wasn't to challenging underfoot and you an easily do it in trainers.

Buck Mountain has a beautiful panoramic view of Lake George. It's a challenging hike, but the top is worth the effort. Bring water and snacks for the trip and top too.

Started out as a nice sunny fall trail hike on the 3.1 mile trek to the top of Buck Mountain. The fall colors were spectacular! Nice trail, vertical is about 2,000', lots of rocks to traverse. Took us 2.5 hours to get to the top....More

Beautiful hike -- gorgeous views! Very well marked trail. Really steep at points -- you need to crisscross to get across the rocks. And there are 3 or 4 water crossings which can be slippery and lots of large rocks which aren't good to those...More

Great hike. About 6 miles round trip from the trailhead at Pilot Knob parking area, and about 2000 feet gain in elevation. Good exercise. The views on top is amazing. The clearing just below the summit affords views of the lovely Crossett Pond as well....More

The beginning of the trail is a lot of fun, there's a lot of little streams that you have to go over with old enormous logs to walk across. Towards the top, it does get a bit tougher, big rocks with a steeper climb. The...More

A little tough for me but the view was worth it. The trail was marked well with good parking. There were quite a few hikers the day i went but it wasn't overcrowded.

A bit steep, but definitely a doable trail. We went in Autumn so we were able to see the fall foliage as we ascended. Definitely need bug spray and lots of water. Bring a small lunch with snacks and you will enjoy this beautifully well...More

Great hike, took us 2 hrs up and 2 hrs down, pretty steep in some sections, several nice stream crossings. View at the top was worth the trip. Bring lots of water. Busy, populated trail when we went on a weekday in august.
