This is a nicely done reconstruction of Fort William Henry, a French and Indian Wars fort. Beautifully situated at the end of Lake George, it provides a sense of the importance of the lake to the French, British and Native Americans. Some interesting displays tell the story of the fort. The village itself is charming. A must if you've read... More

Enjoyed our trip on a cool, beautiful fall day. My nephew peppered the staff with all kinds of questions, and the staff was knowledgable. Dog friendly a definite plus

Although slightly dated, the fort is fairly interesting. A replica of the original fort with some original artifacts on display provides an interactive experience which is fun for the kids and the adults. You can explore on your own or take a tour. They fire the cannons regularly throughout the day which thrills the kids. Lots of rooms to explore... More

Visited the fort William Henry on Oct 10. We had a nice guided tour from a actor dressed as a soldier. Very interesting presentation about the history of the fort. Demonstrations of a flint lock rifle and cannon were awesome. Kids got to play dress up and pretend to be soldiers and also shoot a bow and arrow. The only... More

Interesting but very over priced for what you get. The military demonstration was nice, but consisted of the firing of one musket and one cannon and took about 20 min. The rest of the fort is small.

We visited the fort on a beautiful day. We were there in time for one of the afternoon tours. Our tour guide did an excellent job of talking about the history of the fort and showing us how the muskets and cannons worked. The restoration of the fort is excellent.

The kids loved the firing of the canon and the guns. They also had the opportunity to dress up and march with the Colonel. The movie that is shown in the beginning is painfully boring for adults and children. It needs a major update. Keep in mind this fort is a rebuilt replica.

The Siege of Fort William Henry took place August 3-9, 1757, during the French & Indian War (1754-1763). We witnessed the life fire of a musket and canon and amount of smoke generated from each was amazing! Imagine the smoke so dense over the battlefield that recognizing friend from foe was near impossible. There was a Ranger (from the colonies)... More
