Great Experience, Repeat Customer--Highly Entertaining and Educational
Jun 2021
First time I had been back to Fort William Henry in probably 15 years. It was a fun, entertaining, and educational experience. I highly recommend it--the tour guides were knowledgeable at at $20/ticket, it was reasonable.

Haunted History Night Tour
Jun 2021 • Family
5/5 stars. We visited Fort William Henry early in the morning. It was closed but we signed up for a Haunted History Tour at 8:30pm. Traveling as a single mom with 9 year old boy. Great place for kids who love history.

Great experience
Jun 2021 • Family
This was my first time there and I was very satisfied. . I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this visit. To be honest I was expecting it to be kind of boring, and it was anything but. I learned a lot and would definitely go back. You can walk through the entire fort with artifacts on display and exhibits that five you an idea of life back then. The staff were extremely knowledgable and friendly. The guides were dressed in period correct attire and were a wealth of knowledge with so many details about that time period ranging from daily life, the war, and the fort. The firing of the colonial weapons was really cool too. One of my favorite parts was the old time woodworker in the courtyard, milling wood with the same tools and techniques used back then. I definitely recommend Fort William Henry Museum and I would definitely like to go back someday.

Reconnoitering around the "Land of the Mohicans"
May 2021
Excellent display of historical artifacts and informative, witty guides that provide an insight into the role the fort played in a conflict that was intercontinental. Definitely worth a visit and easily combined before or after an excursion around the lake

Enjoyable historical tour
Sep 2020
I love exploring historical buildings, so I was excited to come here, and this museum did not disappoint. Fort William Henry used to be a British fort that was halfway between the British colonies and the French colonies and was therefore strategically located. Take one of the fabulous tours - you'll learn quite a lot from the tour guides, who make the history come alive and make you enjoy the experience very thoroughly. There are also rumors that the fort is haunted, so be sure to ask a tour guide for stories if they don't already mention any.

Fun with History, ghosts included
Apr 2021 • Friends
We had so much fun! Love historical places. The tour guides were fantastic! They loaded a rifle replica and shot a paper wad, the crack and smoke was amazing. Costumes were fun, the displays are perfectly rustic, a real Adirondack feel, sights, smells and touch.
There are ghosts and spirits here. Our cell phones both drained more than 80% and I caught an EVP in a video on my iPhone.
Planning on the Haunted Tour this fall!

Ghost Tour
Mar 2021 • Friends
I wish I had read the reviews before going. Due to Covid I spent most of the time feeling uncomfortable because of the large group in such small spaces. They should really split up the groups. I was looking for a mostly outdoor thing to do, and shouldn’t have made the assumption that the museum would take appropriate safety measures. The stories were ok, the guides were extremely nice, but I felt like the tour itself was hastily put together.

Don't go on a ghost tour
Feb 2021
We went on a ghost tour. The handling of COVID protocols was absolutely horrifying. Despite the confirmation stating that masks must be worn during the tour and distance maintained from other guests, neither of these happened during the tour and no attempts were ever made to enforce them. Our group was really alarmingly large (around 30 people) for such a small space, and at many points at least half of the group was not masking properly and several attendees had taken their mask off entirely and nothing was done about it. We were also routinely encouraged to gather around close to one another. I wish I had read more reviews before going because other reviews echo this same thing from many months ago. Would highly not recommend going if you're concerned about COVID protocol. Beyond this, the tour itself was actually pretty boring and shoddily put together, and rambled on pointlessly at many points. Guides didn't seem to remember what they were supposed to talk about next and it seemed like there wasn't any rhyme or reason to the flow of things.

Fall Fort Tour
Oct 2020
Restored Pre-Revolution era Fort with actual artifacts, museum, films, and Gift Shop. The Cannon and Musket demonstrations are not to be missed. Our tour guide stayed in character and was informative and entertaining. Check hours, and make a reservation as they were required despite not being noted on their web-site.
