Views of lake George. We drove up and then hiked around the peak. The little bus is unnecessary unless you have a disability. Bathrooms at the top, good for about an hour or so. Make use of the turnoffs on the way up for different...More
Sitting at 2,030 feet Prospect Mountain gives you fantastic views of Lake George, the Adirondacks and into the mountains of Vermont. It costs $10 to drive and there are 3 areas to pull over on the way to a large parking lot, where a shuttle...More
We drove up the mountain. There were stops along the way to the top. Once you get to the top you can walk or take the shuttle a bit further. We decided to walk back down and the trail was lovely. There were a lot...More
We tried Prospect Mt last weekend and we are so glad we did. After paying the $10 car entry fee, you gradually make it up the mountain and stop at convenient overlooks. The first was the Narrows, the the second one was eagles Eye,and the...More
Seems to be the only hike walkable from the Lake George village. The hike itself isn't too dynamic. A consistently relatively steep straight shot up the mountain. Parts are like a mini-boulder field, so not the most comfortable hike, but nothing too challenging. Great view...More
When I visited Lake George after Columbus day, there where nothing open in the city. So, I drove to the Veteran memorial highway to visit Prospect Mountain and it was one of the most beautiful view you can see. It was nice informative trip.
We drove up the mountain after paying the $10 fee. Stopped at the pull over areas to take in the views. At the top parking lot we hiked the steep trail up to the top. It was a great time of year to be there.
To get to Prospect Mountain you have to take a one way in, one way out till road to the summit. This will cost you $10 but it is absolutely worth it. Once you make your way up the mountain there are 3 stops you...More

There is no visitor center, just the point where you pay to travel the road to the parking area. There is a hiking path you can access in Lake George Village Lake George Village. It is 4 miles long. We preferred to drive up to the parking area and take the shuttle. You can walk a path from the parking area to the summit in approximately 10 minutes. We hiked back down that way. If you are easily winded, I suggest taking the shuttle up. Otherwise, the hike should be fine from the parking area.

The drive to the top I would say 5 min. Then you have to wait for the bus to take you to the very top. The buses go every 15 min or so. The drive is about 10 min as well they play a video. The rest is up to you how much time you want to spend taking pictures and walking around. We were in and out within an hour with a toddler. In comparison to other mountains we been too this was nothing special so maybe that’s why we didn’t want to waste too much time. Also, there were lots of black flies that were really annoying too.
