We have been going to Kismet for the past ten years [at least]. We take our boat from Point Lookout and most times when the water is calm we take the ocean. The trip is a little less than an hour. When you arrive Ben is the boat arranger. He helps you dock. For $75 you can dock for the day and you get a $50 credit to the bar restaurant at the corner of the marina.

I went here last August in 2022 and it is so beautiful. The waves are great and the water is very shallow for a while. The beach is great for all ages and the big waves are only further out. The beach is huge! I highly recommend!

Kismet Beach on Fire Island is one of my favorite spots. The beach is oceanfront with white sand. It’s a short walk from the bayside. You have a view of the Kismet lighthouse on the ocean.

Kismet is the start of Fire Island. The beach is a beautiful long stretch of white sand with ocean waves. It’s one of my favorite spots to enjoy the Long Island season.

If you want to get away from the city and relax, I would call this the "anti-city". The streets are the size of sidewalks and there are no loud motors that create noise pollution. The beach is never more than a few minute walk away. There are two major places to eat: "The Kismet Inn" and "Surf's Out"...so the joke is to decide where to eat - "Inn or Out"? There are other small places like a pizza stand that you can buy food from as well. There are two ways to get there...Ferry Boat or walk from Robert Moses beach. Robert Moses closes at dusk so if you want to stay after it gets dark out, use the Ferry. The last one goes back to the "main land" (Long Island) around midnight.

Boardwalk to Kismet from Robert Moses Field 5 is sadly closed due to Covid so our annual walk is canceled this year. Totally makes sense just didn’t think it would be.

We stayed at a home right near the ocean, which was perfect. My daughter and son in law came with us for a few days. The weather was beautiful, the house was beautiful, quiet, restful and the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the great company. Kismet is a heavenly place.

We parked at Robert Moses field 5 and walked to Kismet. It’s about a 1.8 mile walk but well worth it. We walked into town and had a great lunch in town.

Kismet is a summer place that exudes the elements of a getaway that allows one to disconnect and relax.

After parking at Moses State Park, do you walk to Kismet Beach? can you rent chairs, umbrellas? Is there a place to eat in Kismet? Which beach is best to visit? I am older and can walk around 2 miles, but not much further.
Thank you
Is there anywhere to take a shower after a day on the beach??

Hi , To be honest I am not sure, we usually shower at the house, so I am not certain whether there is an open shower option on Kismet., But there should be on Robert Moses, if you happen to park your car there.

Do you need a beach pass? Is it just for locals or can anyone go?

Anyone can go! There is a ferry that takes you there, its schedule easy to google under Schedules -Fire Island. Look under Kismet and/or any other beach where you'd like to visit. Some beaches have restrictions regarding eating and drinking, but still- everyone can go.

How long would it take to walk from Robert Moses beach to Kismet? Is it advisable to take the path during summer time?
About 10 - 15 minutes. Go to the beach and turn left, or go to the Parking lot, turn left, and follow it all the way, past the lighthouse, onto the Burma Road. Keep walking and you will come to West Lighthouse walk, the westernmost street in Kismet
