It was cold and it was windy but I was captured by the beauty of this amazing place. We only hiked around the lake, and the trees were bare, ready for their winter slumber, but the views to be had..and this was just a small...More

Beautiful scenery all year round. Nice trail surrounds the lake, be well equipped with hiking shoes a bottle of water and a camera. In the summer there is a public beach, unfortunately it is badly maintained. The restroom close to the beach is highly advertised...More

This is an outstanding place to hike. I would recommend calling in advance to ascertain the trails you want to hike are open. Sometimes they are limited to certain activities (e.g., cc skiing)

Took the pup on a great hike on the Minnewaska lake trail. It's a nice trail, a bit crowded, but with super friendly people, dog friendly, and nice easy elevation. If you're looking for a strenuous hike, this is not it, but there's plenty of...More

Smooth crushed-stone carriage roads make a mountain bike or adaptable road bike an excellent way to see most of the park in a day or two. Beautiful views from high, open cliff tops and escarpments, glacial lakes, waterfalls -- all easily accessible and in close...More

We visited Minnewaska at the end of September, on a warm and sunny day in the middle of the week. There are two glacial lakes there, but we only saw one with rocky cliffs, and several trails of different lengths and difficulty. We took Millbrook...More

There are a number of steep drop-offs, but unless you have actively suicidal dogs it won't be a problem. The trails are definitely wide enough to stay away from the cliffs.
