Kids enjoyed it so much, they wanted to go again! I tried telling them it was time to go back home, but they insisted on going again,

This is a must for everyone. If you don’t enjoy this piece of history or the fun ride maybe you need to slow down and smell the roses. For the more “mature” ones it will bring back memories, for the young ones it will make memories. And best of all it’s close to the freeway and it’s FREE!! The wife and I had a blast while just passing through the area.

The area has 6 beautiful antique carousels that you can visit and ride. We started with the C. Fred Johnson Park and continued to the George W. Johnson, Highland Park, Recreation Park. Ross Park and finally the West Endicott Park. The best part is that they are all free to ride. All were placed between 1919 and 1934 by George F. Johnson the shoe manufacturer and benefactor to the area. He felt carousels contributed to a happy life and wanted everyone to benefit from them. All 6 carousels were made in North Tonawanda, NY at the Herschell Carousel Factory. So worth the time to visit and ride all 6 and to enjoy the remarkable hand carved animals. The carousels are on the NYS Historic Register as well as the National Register of Historic Places.

I brought my son, daughter-in-law, and 2 grandchildren here on a recent visit to JC. I rode this as a child, as did my kids, and the grandkids were excited. We enjoyed it very much but I have to say it's rather sad that there was no one else there. Three park employees to run the ride just for us. It was clean and in good condition so I don't understand why more people don't utilize this historic treasure generously given by Charles Fred Johnson..

the triple cities boast several carousels, but this one is my favorite. Built years ago by the Endicott Johnson shoe factories for their workers, this Herschell carousel is the largest of the (7?) here. This time of year there are special "lights on the carousel" evening hours but summertime is best.

Many activities are available. Lots of kids in the water park; paved walking paths are very helpful. A summer project would be to have the counselors and visitors pick up the trash off the lawn. There is a lovely display for past manufacturing companies in a pagoda look-a -like building. The roof looks like its ready to come down. Would advise not standing beneath it. Nice tribute to the past. Some details about what it represents would be a nice thing to be able to read.

This carousel is right off the highway and there are no lines. It is maintained beautifully and a nice stop. I would never pay for a ride on a carousel since the ones in this area are free. There are 6 carousels to ride, all a little different.

What a blast from the past to enjoy the sights and sounds of an authentic indoor carousel. A great family tradition.

We took our 4 year old grandson to the carousel thinking it would be great for him and I believe the adults had a better time. He enjoyed it but it was like going back in time for us. A beautiful set-up and well maintained. If you are in the area you must stop in and experience it.
