We came to the dam from the Zambia side. After going through immigration there and leaving our IDs there we drove over the dam and then walked back across. The views really are stunning and it's interesting to see the work going on on the other side of the dam wall. Still, we felt it was lacking more information. A tour would be greatly appreciated or at least a small museum going through the history and mechanics of the dam. In all, we spent about 45 minutes there.

What is the point of reviewing a structure. It was impressive but just a concrete edifice and power station.

Siavonga is beautiful little town. The main attraction is the Kariba dam.We went in Christmas holidays. The weather was hot and humid. We decided to walk on the dam wall but its very hot.Luckily,we had umbrellas in the car which made the walk easy.We were in mist of good rainy season in Zambia so the water level was good.I just wish the tourism deparment offer some paid guided tour to get better idea of the dam.Anyway we went to other side then back and the drove to Zimbabwean border. We forgot the car papers at home so could not drive to Zimbabwe but otherwise the process is easy and the boder control people quite helpful.
