This area is so beautiful and you could hike picnic camp and enjoy all day. Weather permitting a swim would be perfection. Much more peaceful and uncrowded on a weekday in Sept.

I don’t get here enough, but when I do it makes me want to come back. Great state park. The gorge and rim trails are not for people with mobility issues , but the views at the lower parking lot are for all to enjoy....More

The hike was beautiful and peaceful and just strenuous enough to make me work for the views. We even got to see rabbits, deer and turtles!

We hiked Buttermilk Falls State Park on a humid overcast day. We hiked up the Gorge Trail which is a steep trail along the falls. The park has stone steps so you don't have to worry about roots as you hike up. You are ascending...More

Able to make a quick stop to see Falls. Looks like an interesting swim area in season. Easy to hop out for a quick view.

Nice, non-strenuous hike (though it was HOT when we went) with a payoff of some beautiful waterfalls and rock formations.

Be prepared if you are going from the lower parking lot at the base of falls. It is a fairly steady climb. Walk fairly regularly but I was regularly stopping to catch my breath. Nice views of forest and falls cascading down during climb.

These are steady falls that come right past the car park at the entrance to the park. We walked up the trail on the right hand side and in places it is steep, especially on a hot day but beautiful. There are lots of shallow...More

The swimming hole was closed when we were there, but it is worth the time to climb the stairs to see the higher section of the falls up close. If you buy admission to one NY state park in the Finger Lakes region, you can...More

Starting at a nice swimming hole at the lower end of the park, a series of falls and pools stretch up a lovely water carved sandstone gorge to Lake Treman. Hiking the entire trail includes 400 vertical feet of elevation gain, but it is possible...More

From California, but visited twice. We enjoyed the upper trail once when the lower one was icy, and the lower trail that goes along the river most of the time when we went back for graduation. I'm glad some locals answered... More

Ithaca Falls is spectacular, especially after some rain. But there is not really a trail for hiking. It's a five-minute walk after you park the car to the base of the waterfall, with no trail to hike. It could be a 15-minute... More

Try the usual travel websites for hotels. There is also Grayhaven Motel which is halfway between Treman Park and Buttermilk Falls. It's a small family run operation. There are also quite a few Airbnb's here. When all the... More
