At the great cave of the Northeast, an elevator takes you 156’below ground. The doors open into a prehistoric underground cavern 6,000,000 years in the making! Trained tour guides help negotiate the cave and teach about its magnificent natural features. Back on the surface, mine for gemstones at Howe Caverns Mining Co. Beginning summer 2011, enjoy the first phase of Howe High Adventures—featuring ropes courses, climbing walls, zip lines and more!

We took my older teens there for a family outing while visiting my son at RPI. The kids bulked at first, didn't want to do "a nature outing." But they loved the cave! It really is spectacular, and our guide Nick made it a fun-for-all family experience.

A great place for kids and adults alike. Old world charm above and awesome cavern tours 150+ feet below ground. Great experience for the whole family at a very affordable price.

Very cool and very well organized trip into the caverns. We were traveling with a 3 year old and a 20 year old and both were amazed by the whole thing! Absolutely loved the boat ride inside the caverns, truly entertaining & educational :)

Went right at opening on a Sunday morning. What a great decision that was -- minimal people meant our group size was a bit smaller. Tour guide was friendly and informative and obviously loves his job(he even said so). This was a spontaneous trip so if you are planning this - look into the adventure or lantern package to make... We went here with a group of 8 friends. Have been to this tourist attraction several times; years ago - not sure how or why it got so expensive - $25; a few dollars cheaper if you are a senior or a child. It was fun to see the caves. It takes about 1 1/2 hours to do the tour.... More

Always cool to go on an underground adventure, but not the grandest caverns and a bit pricey. The area around there is real hillbilly, but the caverns building is well done with great facilities and history. I really liked the boat ride.

Spectacular viewing of an incredible natural phenomenon. Must see for all New Yorkers and would be a great stop for others as well. Super for families. Restaurant and gift shop are ok, not spectacular, but go for the cave tours, not the trinkets or hot dogs!!

We have been there on January weekend with not a lot of people and it was fun and not so busy. We almost have private tour just us and another couple. There is a lot to see but after you been in other caverns in the world, this is not one of the amazing that I saw. But if you... More
