We had a great guide who was able to explain (in english) the history of the area and Mexico's battle for independence through the beautiful murals on the walls. We enjoyed the guide so much we brought our friends back to learn as well.

It is a Barco style historical building of the 18th century worth looking at, when strolling around, and visiting if you have the time.

I never imagined that stepping foot into a building could evoke such strong emotions. You are stepping into history. You can feel it in the well preserved walls and bricks that adorn this palace. The guided tour is highly recommended, as anyone approaching you is not only incredibly friendly but just so genuinely interested in sharing with you the history of the country, and their passion shows in their words! Great place to catch a little bit of shade too for half an hour while getting away from the sun.

This is one of the most beautiful Governor's house in the country, and stands in one of Queretaro's little downtown squares which is also one of the most charming in its kind all over the country. It is a beautiful background for one of the nicest souvenir pictures you may take in Queretaro, provided there is not a concert, a protest march or a political demonstration going on (which I see in front of this building 4 or 5 days a week).

The place is of historical importance , now is a government building , it has 3 nice murals that totally white washed the Mexican independence Heroes. The bad part is that the tourist guides tell a conservative revisionist version of Mexico. As a Mexican historian all this make me really sad , the murals and the explanation wipe away very important information of my country. But Querétaro state is one of the conservativism bastions in Mexico. From here you can take a leyends tours or eat in one of the expensive yet delicious restaurants.

This palacio, government building is right on Plaza de Armas, was the residence of la corregidora. The interior architecture is beautiful and the murals of important figures in the struggle for independence are worth savoring, studying.

This is a lovely old building that is now used for public and private events. Its historical significance is that is represents the beginning of the Mexican Revolution. At night it is bathed in lights which makes it also romantic.

Now Government Palace or Chief Magistrates’ House (Casa de los Corregidores), it also served as the Royal prison until not so long ago (in the west wing), horse stable, military barracks, seat of executive power and finally cradle of national independence.

The place where Miguel Domínguez and his wife Josefa Ortiz, Ignacio Allende, Juan Aldama, Miguel Hidalgo, and others first met to conspire against the Crown, the harsh beginning of the Mexican War of Independence. The conspiracy was discovered, and things abruptly changed from there, but this is where the kernel, the seed of it began to germinate.

Today, visitors and locals can come to admire three beautiful murals, painted on fragile red travertine, illuminating and energizing the cold stern walls of the palace. They are the amazing work of artist Víctor Cauduro (inaugurated in 2012) to recount a part of Mexico’s history. Each mural, like a child in the womb, took nine months to paint.

Mural 1 – National Independence.
Mural 2 – Queretaro site and restoration of the republic.
Mural 3 – Revolution and constitution of 1917.
