Belleayre is the perfect foil for Hunter and Windham - both are busy and just a little bit competitive (read "aggressive" for Hunter). Because Belleayre is not as high and has shorter runs, it tends to be quieter—MUCH quieter—as the NYC crowds head to Hunter and Windham. As a result, although you may have a shorter run, you rarely find... More

My girls fist time on skis (ages 7 and 9), no broken bones for me or my husband, great weather, groomed trails, enough said! Place is great and can't wait to come back.

This is a great mountain to learn to ski. They have many great priced programs for adults learning to ski or ride. During the week the crowds are very light and you can have the whole mountain practically all to yourself. The trails are wide and well groomed. Food in the lodge leaves a bit to be desired and vegetarian... More

After spending a few weekends at Hunter Mountain, and the last weekend of February we decided to give Belleayre a shot. The distance from NYC is about the same as Hunter, early in the morning you can get there in a little more than two hours. Equipment can be rented at a shop at the beginning of the access road... If you'd like to avoid the crush of industrial skiing at Hunter, I highly recommend Belleayre, where the trails are nicely groomed and frequently all yours for a few dozen yards at a time. There's a sufficient number of runs to occupy you for a day and the longer ones girdling the outside of the network of trails permit for... More

I have been here with my wife and a 5 and 8 yo sons several times now and the place is nice. The people are friendly and ski instructors are well prepared. This place is perfect for small kids who want to learn to ski. Group lessons are not crowded. I highly recommend Belleayre Ski Resort for family with small... More

Seems like a nice enough place with friendly staff, however beware of the holiday promotion where you supposedly receive a voucher lift ticket. We skiied today and only one very short beginner run was open, but we thought we would go anyway because of the voucher. Afterward we were told that because we got a lift ticket and rental package... Ok food. The lodge is very old, so that is sort of ugly. The lifts are uncomfortable, but for skiing, if you are a beginner it is pretty good.

We took our 6 year old for her first ski lessons a few times this past winter. The learning area with ramp is great for less courageous kids and after a couple of days she moved on to the beginner slope. The lodge has basic food and most people don't bother with lockers and leave their things all over the... More
