This was by far the best wine tasting experience we've had in the Keuka/Seneca area. I made a reservation online and we were immediately seated for our 45 min tasting, which ended up lasting longer because the lady who was "hosting" us was lovely to talk to and we loved the wines so ended up ordering more beyond the tasting.
Very knowledgeable and pleasant. Maximillien red wine was our favorite so we left with few bottles. Absolutely recommend!

Great wines and amazing views. We visited on a rainy Sunday but the views were still awesome. The wines were great and our host was wonderful. We had another winery planned for after this tasting but we were enjoying ourselves so much elected to buy a bottle of wine, cheese and crackers and stayed to enjoy one of the best red wines we’d had on the trip! Make a reservation for sure. And if you like reds give theirs a try! The Pinot and Cab Franc top notch.

Joanne, our wineslinger, was very friendly and knowledgable about the product and all its variations. We enjoyed our time at Ravines.

I visited 6 wineries on the day I stopped into Ravines. Their tasting was the most expensive of the six. Their wines are priced (by the bottle) at no more than other local wineries, so it isn't as if the 33% greater price reflects the sampling of a more costly product. Regarding the wine................................ : it was nice. Since taste/appreciation is an individual preference I won't say more. I would suggest visiting the other local vineyards instead. This was the only establishment I went without buying a bottle on the way out- because i was so miffed over their pricing.

Ravines is located on the east side of Keuka Lake right off of East Lake road so it does not have the great views like the wineries perched up on the hills such as McGregors on the east and Heron Hill on the west.

The tasting room is rather small but that was not a problem on the day before Thanksgiving since there were only two groups imbibing when we were there. The tasting is a bit cheaper than other places at $3 for 5 samples. The wine itself was good and the server was a real talker.

A nice experience overall.

This was our last stop of the day. We arrived at 4:20ish and the place closes at 5. We were set up immediately with Joanne for a tasting. She was friendly and chatty but a few minutes into our “flight” she became frazzled with a crowd that entered. It was downhill from there. At one point she walked away, and upon returning a few minutes later, had no idea where she left off. She then ordered another woman to “bring in the flag” and close this place. We felt like we were imposing. The wines were fine and the view beautiful.

With 33 "Gulpy Sippers" on board our bus for our 10th Annual Wine Tour, we finished our day with a wonderful fun outside tasting at Ravines Wine Cellars! A huge thank you to Lisa for allowing us to come late, eat awesome food and cheese and enjoy your beautiful vineyard and great wines! We loved the cheese and chocolate touch- it was wonderful and we send you 33 cheers and thanks!

A wine store recommended this winery to us, especially since it was on the top wineries in the world and had a great Cabernet Franc (but it was ok to me, perhaps because we are not fans of cab-francs). We decided to do the cheese/chocolate wine pairing...which was $6 each. I thought the chocolate pairing was not great and the cheese pairing was better and not much wine was given in comparison to other wineries and these wines were not our favourite...just ok to us.

The owner worked at Dr. Frank's and then decided to start his own winery. It's basically an old house they turned into the winery and has 2 levels for the over flow...downstairs was the converted walkout basement tasting room. Apparently they had approx 300-400 people that day and had to turn people away...we went before they closed so there were not many there. The view is nice and there is a restaurant across the street. They have patio chairs outside; but I thought it was odd that they were just on the grass and that money wasn't spent to make a nice patio or at least some stone slabs to drink some wine and enjoy the view or even a walkway to the 2nd floor tasting room. It rained so it was a little muddy and wet. Anyway, taste in wine is a matter of opinion and I would not want to tell people not to try Ravine wines.

When we visited this winery there was only one lady doing the tastings. There were probably 10-12 people at the tasting bar and she was trying to make sure she gave the "whole experience" and description of each wine and pairings, etc. She was unable to keep up with that amount of people. I think she could have cut the descriptions a bit & moved on so everyone was better served. There are windows across the front of the winery overlooking Keuka Lake across the street. The winery sits high up on a hill so the view is really nice. Getting into the building could be an issue for some people. The main entrance had probably 8-10 stairs to climb up to enter the main tasting room. It does look like there are doors in the lower part of the building that open out onto the gravel picnic table area, but I don't know if there is an elevator to get upstairs or not. The wines were ok. Not bad - not great. Not sure we would go back here.

Hi Heather- Thank you for your review and feedback. We strive to provide excellent service, both as it relates to the tasting experience and the ability to provide relevant info and answer questions about our wines, vineyards, the region, etc. There is certainly a balance necessary when you have a large group of people, and we always try to have enough staff to be able to accommodate a full tasting room. Our apologies if it did not happen on this day last fall. We are now by reservation only, partially because of COVID-19, but also because it allows us to handle the right capacity more easily and provide a better guest experience, including seated tastings where you're served as an individual group. At Keuka, we do have an easy tasting option for anyone who is not able to use stairs, offering outdoor patio tastings and insides tastings downstairs in our Tasting Room. The only time we can't offer both of these is during the winter months. While our wines are highly regarded, we do understand that they are in a dry, classical style (our winemaker / co-owner was raised and trained in France) and these can be different from many other Finger Lakes wineries.

They did their best to accomodate our large group, but we still felt a little bit like cattle. The wines were good, although I think other wineries have better wines across the board. The view was fantastic, so stop and get a glass of wine and sit outside.

Hi- Thanks for your review as we always appreciate feedback. We focus on making dry, classical styled wines and are structured for smaller group tastings. Our winemaker was raised and trained in France so our wines do taste differently from many others in the Finger Lakes. Normally we don't allow groups of over 6 because of our small staff and intimate tasting rooms. That said, we always want to improve for all types of groups so will keep your comments in mind.
