About
Dr. Konstantin Frank Winery is one of the most prestigious and beloved wineries in the Finger Lakes. The winery's founder, Dr. Konstantin Frank introduced vinifera (classic European grape varieties) to the Eastern United States which ignited a winemaking renaissance in the region. Without the contributions of Dr. Frank, the Finger Lakes wine region would not be where it is today. The winery was established in 1962 and is now in its fourth generation of Frank family ownership. The winery's tasting room overlooks beautiful Keuka Lake and some of the oldest vinifera vineyards in America.

- Sally G28 contributionsFun afternoon at Dr Franks wineryVisited the winery of Dr Konstantinos Frank and loved it! We did an hour wine tour of many of their wines with Lynn. She was very knowledgeable about the history of the winery and the family. It was an enjoyable afternoon. The winery is overlooking the beautiful Kauka lake. If you are visiting the finger lakes region of New York, stop by Dr Franks!Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 9, 2023
- donnap10139 contributionsGreat tasting experienceWe had a great wine tasting. They now seqt you at your own table and you get to taste 4 to 6 wines. Their wines are excellent, some of our favorites in the Finger Lakes, and our host was very knowledgeable about their wines and history and very personable! Highly recommend to anyone who likes quality rieslings and dry wines.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 11, 2023
- Po HouseAvon, North Carolina25 contributionsOur fav wine tastingWe not only had a fun time but the wines were so delicious! My guests and I are in the industry and we all highly recommend visiting this beautiful vineyard that also has an amazing view. The charcuterie plate was exceptional and our wine educator/server was perfect. We had an amazing time tasting wonderfully delicious wines! Thank you Gillian.Visited October 2023Traveled with friendsWritten October 11, 2023
- Julia M13 contributionsWonderful Wine/Food ExperienceA wonderful way to spend a slightly rainy afternoon, we (2 couples) opted for their 1886 Tasting Experience and did it deliver!! Allyn was a consumate host and the entire experience was lovely from beginning to end. We toured the facility and barrel room (getting to taste from tanks and barrels) and then sat down to a beautiful pairing experience. I particularly loved the unique varietals available and the use of seasonal produce for the pairings! Definitely worth a visit.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 17, 2023
- bwcoach9Nashville, Indiana43 contributionsJust like old times. We were greeted promptly and then escorted to the tasting room after being recognized as club members. Jim was excellent in taking care of us. He was very knowledgeable in the wines we tasted and the charcuterie board with its cheeses and meats. Jim was very professional but also very personable. And it was nice to be recognized by Allen after several years of absence.Visited November 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten November 6, 2023
- Laura C1 contributionBest, knowledgeable experience so far.The man who served our tastings was absolutely fantastic. After a few tastings at other wineries, we were ready for someone to pour us a wine and give us the standard tag line for the wine. This was not that. He went above and beyond to describe the science behind the grapes and the history associated with each one, while giving his own flowery color to each description. He made us laugh and enjoy our experience through the entire thing. Could not recommend this enough.Visited December 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten December 3, 2023
- krhat65Niverville, New York12 contributionsJust do it!We have been stopping in every December since 2016 and have never been disappointed! Sue was a fantastic tasting host. Very personable and knowledgeable! Wine is among the best the Finger Lakes has to offer year after year! Thank you so much!Visited December 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten December 18, 2023
- Dixie BNew Braunfels, Texas125 contributionsTop of the line winery! This winery is amazing. You DO NEED a reservation for a tasting that will cost you about $15/person. Be sure & get the $25 charcuterie board to pair with their wines, that’s amazing as well! Don’t let the name of the wines fool you, they are just about all dry…when I think of a Riesling…I think sweet, but not in this region. All the wines are great! Our favorite here was the Dry Rose 2023. Surprising because it’s a young wine but the taste was great! Oh and James was our server…he was so knowledgeable and friendly! He really made our visit special, letting us taste even wines reserved for wine members! We will definitely visit again!Visited May 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 8, 2024
- Seaside683048183171 contributionDon't dismiss wines from the Finger Lakes!!We attended the 1886 wine experience which included a winery tour, welcome mystery wine, unbelievable Brunch with wine pairings: 4 courses with 4 wines. the food, wines and presentation were elegant and presented with knowledgeable staff. We were treated with a departing sip of a coveted dessert wine. This has been our highlight of 9 days in the Finger Lakes, NY. I have been in the wine industry since the late 1970's and these wines should not be ignored!Visited May 2024Traveled with familyWritten May 18, 2024
- SnookyBabe48 contributionsOne glass is not enough!Great experience! winery is immaculate, organized and user-friendly. The Signature Tasting is an incredible deal with expert staff giving background and suggestions...and costs no more than any other wine tastings we have tried. Wines are superlative and the charcuterie platters are visually stunning as well as delicious. We enjoyed all the wines so much we went home with a case. By the way, the location ss stunning since seating is directly on the lake. This was our first visit but most assuredly, it will not be our last.Visited May 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 28, 2024

What a delightful visit we had this past gloomy, cold Sunday. We were staying in Corning to visit the glass museum and take a glass blowing class, and we had free time on Sunday afternoon.
We had tasted some of these wines at home and enjoyed them so were curious to see their full wine offerings.
We enjoyed tasting 5 wines of our choosing and asking questions of Paul, who entertained us with all sorts of information about the winery, the regiona and the wines we were tasting.

Of all the wineries you choose to visit in the Finger Lakes, this must top your list. Without Dr. Konstantin Frank, there most likely wouldn’t be a world-class wine market in the area. Dr. Frank made growing European grapes possible in the Finger Lakes with his grafting process. The wines are magnificent. The winery is meticulous in not only sharing their wines, but making you aware of the process and their love of wine making. I have been here many times, but this most recent among the COVID requirements was by far the best experience. It is important that you make your reservation a few days in advance to insure you get your preferred time.

I’ve always enjoyed Dr Konstantine Frank wines. They make some of the leading Finger Lake wines and at this tasting they did not disappoint. They’re well organized in the COVID environment, one way in, one way out. The servers were quite knowledgeable.
Here’s the downside though. Because of COVID they’re severely restricting the wines you can taste. So the problem becomes your interested in one of the many wines that are available for bottle purchase but you can’t get a sample taste. Nor can you go into the gift shop and inspect the bottle labels which I generally find useful before purchasing a bottle.
These are trying times and hopefully my next time here we will be back to normal.

Hi Steven - We agree that we would love to be back to normal. These are difficult times for everyone. We are proud that since reopening on June 13th that we haven't had one staff member or customer get sick. *knocks on wood* Our hosts and tasters are at the front line interacting with hundreds of people a day. Unfortunately, that means that our capacity is lessened, communal shopping spaces are closed, and the previous style of tasting is not feasible. We're sorry for any inconvenience and we hope you continue to support us during these difficult times.

The Dr. Frank Winery has a unique setup in which to taste their magnificent wines.
Reservations are preferred, tasting tables are socially distanced, and one party can't advance unless the previous party moves on and station is sanitized. Masks must be donned when moving between stations. There are 5 different tasting stations. Felt very comfortable tasting wines in this setting. Checkout was a bit confusing. Arrive at a window, pay, and pick up wine at an outside location.
Wines were wonderful and staff were very knowledgeable of wines and family history.

This was one of two wineries we visited this day. It was extremely well organized, with 5 stations where you could sample a choice of 1 of 3 wines. You are allowed to come in no earlier than 10 minutes before your reserved time. A very enjoyable experience overall.

We visited Dr. Frank for the third time two days ago. Our first experience, several years ago, wasn't the best. We did a wine tasting that consisted of standing at one table with several others and one staff member. It seemed rushed and impersonal and we didn't have any desire to return. We've come to realize that the server at these tastings makes all the difference in the experience. That visit, our server was just OK. Last year our B+B hosts encouraged us to give it another try as they highly recommended their wines. We did, right in the middle of COVID. Reservations were required and the groups were small. A progressive tasting was done and we moved to three different stations. It was a great experience and we bought wine that we have come to love. This year we decided to do the Konstanin's Overlook experience. It was wonderful! We sat out on the deck overlooking the lake on a beautiful sunny day and received a welcome wine, then a flight of 5 wines for each of us (we chose from a list of several options), and had a charcuterie plate for two with local cheeses which was delicious. There was no time limit and we were able to sit and enjoy our experience and the beautiful weather. It was hard to leave! We ended with a piece of chocolate and a special dessert wine. Our servers were knowledgable and wonderful! We left for home with several wines and local cheeses with plans to return again next year!

My husband and I enjoyed a relaxing afternoon at the vineyard in the Signature Seated Tasting Room. The 5 wines we each selected were beautifully presented in glasses arranged in a tower that allowed us to easily identify each varietal. Along with the wine selections, we also ordered a cheese and charcuterie board. This was a great choice. New York cheeses and prosciutto were artfully displayed and tasted as good as they looked.
We had made a reservation online for the tasting and would recommend that you do so also. The quality of the wines and accompaning food is sure to attract more than the space will accommodate.

We had been trying to get out to this winery for a few years - we have family in nearby Geneva. I must say the experience exceeded even our inflated expectations.
We made reservations in advance, even though we didn't expect large crowds in late October. Those made the process simple when we arrived.
We tasted several wonderful wines & really enjoyed the view of Autumn colors around Keuka Lake. The roving guides were quite knowledgable and shared some very interesting stories about the history of Dr. Konstantin Frank. We all learned a lot.
Highly recommended & worth the drive.

My husband and I had a lovely time at this winery today. We were able to get a reservation for a tasting which allowed us to be able to enjoy our wine on the deck while viewing Keuka Lake below the beautiful vines. Our reservation gave us the advantage of having a wine educator (Allen), who patiently answered all of our questions and shared his wealth of information of history of the vineyard, grapes, what makes the Finger Lakes region so special for winemaking, and about each of the wines that we selected for our tasting. The ambiance of this particular winery was really about giving the customer a memorable experience. We would definitely recommend this winery on a tour or to just stop by and enjoy a glass of wine.

My husband & I have been frequenting Dr. Franks on an annual basis since we discovered this gem of a winery over 10 years ago. Their wines always exceed our expectations.
We thoroughly enjoyed the new experience of the wine stations (developed since Covid). The enthusiasm that each associate has for wine and the wine-making process & history is contagious. The Scottish gentlemen had a particularly lovely passion for wine!

Are you dog friendly?

Yes but don’t Allie inside the winery unless guide dogs. They have outside seating and will serve you there, if a weekend should do in advance call and arrange. During the week will make it work.

Is there food to purchase on site? If not, is there a place close by o pick up lunch?
Written July 11, 2016
The folks at the tasting gave us the names of two local restaurants which were excellent for dinner or lunch. Ask the vineyard folks because I can't remember the names.....
