This was a side trip on the way home from a business trip to Albany, NY. Located about one hour south of Albany and two hours north of NYC, this is a lovely hike in the Catskill Mountains, and worth the time and trip. We...More

The state of New York keeps making this place better and better. 2 years ago the only access to the falls was parking on a busy narrow road, walking on the busy narrow road and hopping the guard rail. Now you can park in a...More

We drove up to the new trail going up to Kaaterskill Falls last weekend. The water was pretty high, and we were able to see the streams and the falls from several vantage points. We walked from the Mountain Top Historical Society right to the...More

Perfect hike of medium difficulty. With little kids, one should only attempt to visit bottom of falls. But for the more adventurous hiker, the short trip to the very top is well worth the effort. Kaaterskill Falls is a real treat in spring, after a...More

Husband took me here for a late morning hike and was lucky not too crowded. We also took our dog. The trail itself was more difficult than I expected and saw many families which was surprising, since it seemed like it would be tough for...More

Absolutely loved the views of this place. Breathtaking isn't even close to describing it. There are 3 levels...4 if you count the entry. When you first enter from the road there is a small fall. Then you hike up a trail and come to a...More

Super easy hike with a great reward. Invest only a short half mile to enjoy a large waterfall with cool refreshing water and plenty of large boulders to sit on. It can be a bit steep and slippery at times, especially on the way back...More

If you want to see the falls when the water level is high go in the early spring (May or early June) or immediately after a rainy spell.
