Nature at its best with Hwange Wildlife Safaris
We had an amazing 1.5 day trip through Hwange Nationalpark with Hwange wildlife Safaris. Our Guide Bothwell knows the park amazingly well and showed us around. We saw a pack of lions including 3 cubs as well as many Giraffes, Zebras, Antilopes, Elephants with tiny babies, birds, hyenas and lots more. We had an amazing time. Thank you so much

    Hwange The Easy Way.
Always a 5 from me when nature is involved and a bit of endeavour. Hwange is not some mysterious out-of-the-way, hard to get to National Park. Rather, it is literally just over 2 hours away from Victoria Falls airport with a very easy drive through lots of beautiful countryside. Seriously......turn right out of the airport, straight line for 150km then take a right. 15 minutes after your turn you will be at the park. Yeah, it really is that easy. The main camp has a shop, rest room, restaurant and ticket office. Two adults+car $45 total. Yup, great day out. Roads in the park are all easily passible with a regular car. If you want to do side roads (loops), you must have a 4x4. Either way all good. A beautiful park with waterholes for game viewing, look out towers too. The park is quiet with stunning countryside. Golden savannah grass, forested woodland and rest camps. An opportunity to see something else on your Zimbabwe trip. A real gem if you can spare a day or two. If you want to max your trip, an overnight stay can add to the experience. I stayed at Gwango Heritage which is 5 minutes from the park. A great stay in a beautiful hotel.

    Hwange National Park Game drives
It is a huge National park.. And wide varieties of birds and animals. Out of the Big 5, we managed to see Lions, Elephants and the Buffalo. We did not see the Leopard and the Rhino. We took the full day Game Drive arranged by Hwange Safari Lodge. We had two excellent guides Lazarus and Blessing. There were plenty of varieties of birds as well.. Overall a great experience at Hwange National park

Big differences on the park tracker and drivers if you compare with Chobe park, in Hwange they just do what must and more before learned what to say and try to be funny, it seems that they are not at all interested in tracking animals just drive around on the main road through the park and walk a little on a side road if you see an animal that is basically elephants because there are lots in this park. So I recommend choosing Chobe 1000x instead of Hwange. In Chobe, the tracker and the drivers themselves are interested in the animals and really try to find all the animals so that the customer is satisfied. The difference in Hwange they do their job because they have to, but in Chobe they do their job because they like it.

Hard to get to and the roads are not in the best shape. You can visit the Painted Dog Conservation site and certainly a special place once you get there. Lots of endangered birds. Quite a bit of driving is involved. Glad we went.

We visited as part of a Rovos train visit. The park was not nearly as interesting as Thornybush, but the ranger was very good and knowledgeable. It was a fairly short visit so It could be that if you were there longer, or early in the morning, it would have been better.

We did a safari in February 2020 (I'm late with my review) through this beautiful national park. It is the largest national park in Zimbabwe and lies at the edge of the Kalahari desert at the border to Botswana.
We saw very many different kinds of animals here. The abundant wildlife is stunning. We didn't see all of the big five, but what we saw was truly worth coming here.
Don't forget your camera and bring binoculars, if possible. Take your time and stop whenever you can to get that special picture!!! The animals come up close if you are very quiet and have a bit of luck. Had a lioness walk right past our jeep and right after that we had a couple that we caught in the middle of their afternoon (4:46 pm) love act. It was in the high grass, so the picture only show a slight hint of what is going on.
If you do not come here, you will truly have missed something!!!

Considering how close this is to Victoria Falls, I thought there would be a lot more people in Hwange. I am guessing the roads between the two put a lot of people off. But if you do brave the dodgy roads, you get to see so much! We were so lucky to see a pride of lions resting under a tree (including some cubs). We also saw heaps of elephants, giraffes, impalas, water buks, zebras and many birds. Even just outside of the park on a night drive I saw many bush babies which I hadn't managed to see anywhere else!

We spent 8 days in various parts of Hwange at 2 safari camps and what an amazing experience.

The wildlife and lack of crowds were mind blowing. From massive herds of elephants, cheetah, lions, sable, kudu and so many incredible bird species we were blown away.

...and the people of Zimbabwe - the friendliest, most helpful people in the world I have ever encountered (and I've traveled all over)

Looking forward to returning soon!

Definitely worth visiting. You can drive yourself or be part of an organised safari group. The latter is useful since the guides know where the various animals usually gather and they communicate by radio when something special is seen. Tak a picnic if you’re going for the whole day.
