Great views. Huge clean green area and TWO smaller double gated areas for dogs to be off leash. Inside 24 hour super clean bathrooms. Found by chance. Best rest stop I’ve ever gone with my dog. Picnic tables available!

Awesome rest stop!
Aug 2019
We stopped here last weekend on our way west (Clinton, NY). It was time for lunch and a rest stop and we were so glad to have driven by the commercial stops to find this gem! The bathrooms were the cleanest public restrooms I have ever used! And a cut above the usual industrial/institution style. We had brought our picnic and found some tables near the canal/river to bide a bit. There was plenty to observe while we noshed: the water, the flood control gates, an Amtrak train (w/ many cars incl double deckers) and other travelers. After lunch, we walked around the path reading the signs will interesting historical info. Although we are beyond playground age, the play scape was modern, intriguing and new. With family newly situated in the area, we will be visiting this stop often on our way to stay with them!!

Great historical info and view of the river/Erie Canal
Aug 2019
This looks like it's going to be a highway rest stop. We stopped for the bathrooms, of course, and were delighted to find a short walk along the Mohawk River (which forms part of the Erie Canal network) with great signs explaining the history of the canal, etc. If you're on the NY Thruway, it's certainly worth a stop!

Clean and Quiet

This rest-stop has immaculate bathrooms, but if you’re looking for a bite to eat, this is the wrong place. They had a spot for coffee and sandwiches, but no one seemed to be working. This is a nice spot to stretch your legs, with views of the canal and a playground for kids.
