About
Once known as the U.S. National Championships, the US Open originated as a single men’s tournament held solely for entertainment purposes back in 1881. Not long after, women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles and mixed doubles also became a part of the growing annual tradition.

ntcprograms@usta - Regrettably, a profound sense of disappointment. The institution fails to disclose the identity of the designated class instructor prior to enrollment. Furthermore, should the need arise to alter one's class selection for any valid reason, an administrative fee of $100 is imposed. It is advisable to refrain from registering at this establishment, as it appears to primarily prioritize financial gain over educational quality. The best part is no one shows their face from their office as they hide behind the phone.

My first visit was for the 2023 Westminster Dog Show. It is difficult to get to from midtown Manhattan! The inside of the stadium is confusing and the sound system is absolutely horrendous. The dog show was amazing but the venue in my opinion not the most convenient. I attended the show at the Garden and it was much better attended!

Unless you have $5000 or more to get a seat close, don't bother .Arthur Ash
stadium is straight up. The section 300 seats are like watching from a plane. If you can get tickets for the round of 16 at Louis Armstrong almost all the seats are good. Also the Qualifying Rounds are free . Unless you have a connection or are wealthy TV is your best option . I would not sit in the 300 section If someone gifted me tickets.

This place has gone from good to bad and now bad to worse.
Please do not go here
Although this is supposed to be a professionals place- it is NOT!
Front desk with very poor phone skills and horrible attitude.
Instructors amateur and even worse then front desk. I wonder how they keep revenue going with such poor welcoming skills.
Do yourself a favor and Google and you will find plenty of tenis places and instructors 👩🏫

They have a no refund policy even if you sustain an injury as documented by a health care professional. They claim this policy is written into the agreement which they ask you to sign. Beware of paying in full as you will forfeit the sum if you cannot play..

We attended the 2011 USTA Open, and ended up spending far more than I expected. Even though it was arguably worth it, I wanted to share my experience for the benefit of others.
1. From Manhattan, take the Long Island Transit Train from the Penn Station to the venue - it costs 12.50 each way but it is much more comfortable than taking the subway, and you get off right at the entrance after 20 minutes.
2. If you go to a day session in the Arthur Ashe Stadium, it can get intolerably hot under a blazing sun. Try to get a seat on the side where box 340 is, as there is a shade.
3. If you go to a night session, don't expect to be admitted to see part of an earlier match that extends beyond the start time of the night session. They won't let you in and you will be kept waiting, possibly for hours.
4. For that reason, there is no sense to go to the venue early, as you just end up waiting.
5. If it rains, you are out of luck. Read the fine prints of the "weather policy".
6. A bottle of water costs $3.50 at the venue. You are entitled to bring a bottle from outside for each ticket holder.
7. Read the bag policy - if you run into an over-zealous bag searcher, you may be asked to put your bag in a locker and have your day ruined as a result.
8. The official match schedule is but a hint. You really cannot determine ahead of time which session is the best. This is made far worse when there are rain delays. It really is ridiculously dicey for the amount of money that you are asked to pay for a ticket.
9. The phone line is always busy at the Open - don't expect to get any help from them.
10. So when the sky clears and there is a match that you really want to see, you end up paying big bucks at the last minute to get tickets from online sites. No, you are not a fool to do that -- that's apparently how it is done.
SO, bring sun screen, water, hats, towels, sun glasses, jackets, umbrellas, and ... lots of bucks!
P.S. You can see well even seated on the highest row, so sitting there is not a bad idea, as you can hold an umbrella to shield yourself from rain or sun - just bring a pair of binoculars if you want to look at your favorite player up close.

We ordered full series tickets for the U.S. Open tennis tournament expecting a professional, clean, and exciting experience. What we received was very disappointing. Arthur Ashe stadium was completely filthy. We arrived to our seats only to find a 26 gallon plastic garbage bag full of trash blocking our seats. We kindly asked the guest concern line if they could remove the trash. After an hour the trash bag was still there. I asked again if they were going to remove it and got hounded with more questions and a promise to remove the trash. After a half hour still nobody came to get the trash. My mother went and asked one of the ushers if they could have someone remove the trash bag and the usher told her why didn't she bring the bag down and throw it away herself. This was completely unacceptable! We don't pay thousands of dollars to pick up the trash that was left over from previous matches. We come here expecting a professional, clean, and well run event. Finally I went and asked a staff member in red who came to look at the trash bag and then he went and asked one of the staff in green to remove it. After almost 3 hours we could finally sit in our seats. The next day we came for our match and there was treat let over from the previous night littered all over the section we were in. The lady next to us commented that there were bugs crawling on the trash and she didn't want to catch anything. Several others commented that they were itching from the filthy conditions. Seats were covered in food, the bathrooms had pee and toilet paper all over. It was really disgusting. We brought it to the attention of the staff several times with no resolution. Also the place is very poorly run. With over 23,000 fans waiting to get into the stadium they only had about 6 ticket takers. We were in the subscriber line with only one ticket taker. It took us over a half hour to enter. Parking was pathetic. The first 5 days we missed almost have of the first matches due to waiting in the parking line anywhere from 45 to 1 hour. Then they would have to shuttle us in on s bus. I don't know who is running this show but I would be embarrassed. This isn't the first year they have been doing this. They should have their act together by now! Give me a break! The food is on par with McDonald's but you'll pay $50-60 for 2 persons. The staff throughout the grounds have no knowledge of the grounds, discriminate against the patrons, and are just plain nasty. One of the food workers accused me of stealing food and then lying about it. I was appalled! Where do they find these people?? There were staff members sitting on walkways and stairs either sleeping, smoking or eating. Don't they have a break room for their staff? We went and bought a big Wilson ball to get it signed by the players and heard the practice courts had a line for getting autographs. The staff member (man) at the practice courts was disrespectful. We were told that the line was only for children and that he would let the kids in first. We had bought the ball for my 12 year old nephew and wanted to get signatures of his favorite players. We were treated bad and discriminated against for being adults. We ended up leaving the line and resorting to the smaller courts. Most of the staff members are on a power trip and have no customer skills whatsoever. With all the said we will not be back. We'd rather not catch something or be treated bad by staff members. We will save the $4,000 and just watch it from home next year. The USTA should be ashamed of this disgrace to USA tennis.

I am writing this review because there are a few things I wish I had known before taking my 13-year-old tennis fanatic daughter to Arthur Ashe Kid's Day at the U.S. Open. We made a special trip to NYC for this event and spent most of the day at Kids Day. We took the subway from Manhattan- very easy, convenient and about 1/2 hour ride. We bought reserved seating tickets for the stadium show. We did not care for the performers, and most of the show was pretty cheesy. It was fun to see some of the top pros come out on the court for a short time (Federer, Nadal, etc.) but for our purposes we would skip the show next time. We didn't participate in any of the kids day activities, and spent almost the entire day at the practice courts watching the pros play. We saw so many big names- Djokovic, Murray, Wozniacki, Venus Williams, Halep, Bouchard, Monfils, Raonic, Radwanska...the list goes on. My daughter got autographs from some of her favorite players. I didn't realize until after the event that the U.S. Open app lists who will be practicing on which courts at what time. We would have been more strategic in finding our favorites if we had known. Hopefully this bit of info is helpful to other tennis fanatics in the future!

This is a cookie-cutter stadium, designed by an architect who's clearly never attended a sporting event. Unless you're seated directly on the sides of the court, you should expect to go home with a severe neck ache. With what they charge for tickets and concessions, you'd think they would make the place comfortable to attend. I'll never go back.

If you want some easy tips to get around the US Open, in Flushing Meadows NY ~
1. Park in NYC if coming from NJ side. I parked in a parking garage, found at bestparking.com ~ where you can print out a coupon for parking. Cost for 24 hours ~ $20.00
2. Hopped on the #7 Subway to Queens ~ very fast and easy.
3. Arrived at stadium. 100's of people were mobbed waiting in line to get into first gate. Walk around the complex, in the back, towards the globe and fountain, enter at South Gate ~ no line, easy in, no crowds whatsoever.
4. Bring Sunscreen. If you don't you are forking over $13.00 for a small bottle!
5. Bring your own water bottles, can fill them throughout the stadium ~ we also brought our own sandwiches in a thermal bag. Don't bring a back pack ~ if you do you have to check it. But a thermal bag works well.
6. if it is hot, bring a small towel ~ we walked and it isn't only those on the court who sweat!
7. Spend the $4 on the line up roster. We highlighted the matches we wanted to see.
8. Day time tickets means ANY Daytime match played you get to see. (have to buy Arthur Ashe tickets to get into the stadium) One of our matches lasted for 5 hours, placing the next game starting at 5:30 ~ if you wanted to you could stay there until 9 or 10 at night. Those who have night time tickets CAN'T get into watch the day time matches. When we left, people asked us for our ticket stubs so they could get in.
9. Take the train back to NYC, and have a quick supper in the city. It's the big apple, soak it in =)
10. Get in your car, if you only parked for 12 hours ~ you probably can pay $12.00 ~ get 11th street and drive out of NYC ~ get yourself on the turnpike and you have a very easy drive home... Most important have a ball, enjoy!

Anything you definitely recommend we reserve or do while we’re there? This is our first trip, and we’re excited to spend some time on the grounds but want to be sure to plan ahead and make time for any special “must do’s”

Do you recommend to visit there without seeing the match?
I want to see but I can only stay in NY after US open in September.

We recently took a tour of the USTA Tennis Center and as tennis fans, felt it was good value for $25.00 - They don't have tours every day so you need to go to their web site and check when they offer the tours. It is very difficult to find by car, recommend you take the train, apparently it is much easier and when you call to book the tour, they can tell you which train station to get off at. My husband is not a huge fan, and he loved the tour and found the behind the scenes stories interesting. They take you to the courts, on Arthur Ashe stadium and into the locker rooms and press room etc. We loved it. Enjoy your visit!

Hi! My boss would like to attend this year and fly home after the day sessions. He would like to store his luggage and then travel to the airport. It mentions that there are locker facilities outside the facility. Does anyone have any details such as cost of the lockers and size? Are they quickly claimed and he would need to arrive early in order to rent a locker? Can a locker be reserved in advance? Thanks so much!

My family is going to the open for first time, very excited!! We have an 8 and 12 year old and thinking of attending kids day. Any suggestions on buying good seats vs general admission tickets? Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

You can get 4 tickets at $5 a piece if you search for "tennis bargains". Kids age 8-12 will love it and there's lots of music and activities the whole day for them.
