Long Island beach in Queens borough that can be reached by subway. Popular destination for New Yorkers in mid-20th century, still pleasant to visit.

Great stretch of beach, restaurants & a new boardwalk stretching from Beach 9th to 126th Street. Great live music every weekend at Caracas, Low Tides, & Rippers on the boardwalk. Connolly's Tuesday Open Mic is a blast. Rockaway bursts with an abundance of talented musicians, artists, & awesome people.

If you are on a budget and are looking for a beach in NY, this is the one. You can get there from Manhattan paying only MTA Fare ($2.75). It's a long ride, not as comfortable as the LIRR ride to the Long Island Beaches. The town has a "Locals Venue" feeling which is great if you have overdosed on... More

A beach in New York City? Yes!!! My kids are the fifth generation of the family to live on the Rockaway Peninsula. The Renaissance that has occurred since Hurricane Sandy in 2012 is amazing. The beach has been restored (expect additional work on berms and dunes in 2017-19) and the new boardwalk is amazing. Concession stands at Beach 86/96/106 are... More

Rockaway Beach is a nice place in the summer to relax while enjoying nature. The only problem is that there are not enough hotels and inns to stay.

Very busy and diverse gay beach on the east end of the beach in front of an abandoned building. Easy to get to by bus m22 line from the A train. Food cart in front of the old concession and bathroom buildings have fun and creative food options in the main season.

Not that bad and nice for a short visit on a weekend to get out of Manhattan. The best from Pier11 on NYC side take the Boat and have a nice Cruise to the Rockaway beach, Stay there for few hours and cruise back. Only during Summer time the Cruise is working.

I went here with friends to getaway for my birthday! We went here on a Tuesday just to avoid the huge crowds that are here on the weekends. I must say we had more fun here then ever! I will always go to this beach in the middle of the week! The water was warm, The bathrooms was well cleaned!... More
