In the early 1970s, Binghamton University professor and soon to be theater department chairman, Dr. John Bielenberg sought to expand the theater department's available venues to an off-campus site.Dr. Bielenberg and his colleagues found the Cider Mill. It had been in the Ciotoli family since the 1940s, and was a popular seasonal attraction for lovers of fresh apples, cider and donuts. The warehouse side of the Cider Mill was just what they were looking for.In 1991, when it became necessary for the University to give up the playhouse, it was restarted as an independent non-profit by Tom Kremer, Craig Saeger and Barbara Wolfe. They were supported over the years by dedicated Board Members, a super-hardworking group of staff members, the Ciotoli family and the devotion of the patrons, donors and volunteers. In all, the last 38 years have brought more than 270 dramas, comedies and musicals, and more than 5,000 performances to the Playhouse stage.

Due to the fact that the Cidermill has chosen to stab a knife into the heart of the Cidermill Playhouse by terminating its lease and choosing to go with short-term leases to other production companies and in effort to increase revenue, I find that I can no longer support them by purchasing cider and donuts from them as I have... Each opportunity I have been able to attend the playhouse I have been transported to a place far from the triple cities! The talent and the productions are first class and always makes me want more. The programs are always entertaining and affordable! Looking forward to the next time A Christmas Carol is presented since it has been a favorite!

Very colourful outside the cider mill with all the beautiful autumn flowers and orange and white pumpkins and squashes on display. The apple cider is the best I have tasted and the maple walnut donuts are equally good. It is a short season for the cider so we usually make the most of it and visit here several times before... Everything is good about this place! The best thing is the most simple thing, a plain donut! You cannot go wrong with anything you get hear! Only negative is they are not open all year round!

I did not go to the playhouse, but to the Cider Mill store and outdoor market. The pie, juice, donuts, and huge wedge of aged white chedder cheese were all delicious. I didn't try the half pie I bought until I had driven a couple hours away. If I had tasted it sooner, I would had turned around and bought... More

Just got back from the play "When in Carthage" - a new comedy written by a NYC author. Very enjoyable evening. The play was well written, very good actors and the theater itself was very intimate. The seating is a bit crowded, but it did not bother me. With a small table to sit at, you were able to easily... More

Good local productions throughout the year. Very nice, tiered seating local theater. Small tables, light snacks, slightly crowded and intimate.

I've seen two productions there in their 'rustic' theater-in-the-round venue and was totally satisfied. It is 'local. community' theater that does a very good, entertaining job.

They may not preform the most current, or the best actors, but this is worth a visit. Your typical cast performs with much vigor to say the least.

While I am not generally a small local theatre guy, we caught a comedy show here a few weeks ago. Small venue made for a pleasant experience. Could maybe use a bit more extensive menu...
