Nine miles of scenic trails in the Finger Lakes area that begin at the Nature Center allow you to experience the natural beauty of the Chemung Valley first-hand. We offer hiking year-round and winter activities including snowshoe rentals and GPS rentals. Our 12,000 square foot building features a museum with 43 species of live animals. Our trails are open 365 days/year dawn to dusk. Our museum is open Tuesday-Saturday from 9-5 (May-October) or 9-4 (November-April). Admission is free but donations are appreciated.

We've visited here before but really enjoy going back because its a well done nature center; with a small museum and trails to hike if your in the mood. They have an outdoor aviary with injured birds which was really great to see. On the inside you can view reptiles, snakes, turtles, birds, insects....its small for an adult but great... More

Tanglewood has a great hands on museum for children, and a lot of outdoor space for the children to explore. They also have some animals outside for the children to look at.

The well maintained museun that can be rented out for baby showers or reception. With breathtaking veiws of nature and ponds with birds flying in the air. The constant bee hive that you can see from the inside, in the museum. The many different birds on display. It is a wonderful place to go with your young children and older... More

We often go here to hike during the spring and fall periods as it's the most convenient place for us to visit reasonably close to our house. About half of the longer trails are sloped so may not be for the faint hearted but the views over Chemung river are great when you get the end of the red trail.... More

The museum and exhibit hall are home to some really awesome animals including exotic reptiles, mammals, and amphibians. Some of their larger raptors live outside, and the signage for all of their animals is awesome. My personal favorite hiking trail is the Green "Mark Twain" Trail. The staff is also super friendly and extremely helpful.

There are two sides to Tanglewood, and both are very enjoyable. If you want a fun place to take the kids, so they can see reptile exhibits, birds of prey, and taxidermied wild animals (bears, wolves, foxes) in their natural habitat, then this is the place. You & the kids can also explore the ponds and check out the great... More
