I am honestly bery dissapointed and disgusted about the condition of the lake !! It is totally filthy, and for the last two days there has been a dead duck in the water. How can the wildlife in the lake survive when it is so filthy. I called the office today to complain and tomorrow I will check to see if they have cleaned it .

I recently went to visit to bring my 2 year old to the playground. I didn't feel safe the minute I got there. Within the hour that I was there my car window was smashed and something stolen from my car. It was quite an ordeal trying to clean all the glass out of my toddler's car seat and drive home with no window. The park police were great though. They said that was the 5th car theft and vandalism of the day. I wouldn't recommend this park.

Since I was not a resident of Nassau County, I was charged a $10 entry fee which I thought was unfair and too expensive. I'm not against a fee, but it shouldn't have cost as much as a movie ticket. After all, I do live in-state. Other than that, the park was beautiful, spacious, well-maintained, family-friendly, perfect for bicycling, walking, picnicking, etc. Security on premises.

I was staying at a nearby hotel and had looked up the running route before I started my run. I ran along Merrick Avenue but you have to run over a mile before you can get into an area of the park that is safe to run. The main parkway into the park had fence up along the road so had to go in by the ice rink. I would have liked to run by the lake, but didn't really see the access point. There is fencing all around the park, I could see the lake area, but wasn't sure how far I'd have to go to get to it. I wound up on a trail by the softball fields. I noticed there weren't many people out running or walking so it is a safety concern as well and so I ran back out the way I came. I did a total of 5 miles, but felt like if they had better signage for running or walking I might have ventured further.

This is the nearest park to where we were staying so we had the choice of visiting on a cool sunlight day. We had quiet walk around the lake and then visited the Veteran's memorial. The golf course was surprisingly empty but well manicured as usual. Being a weekday, the park areas mentioned was not crowded , it was rather peaceful and quiet at the time.

Had our reunion party at Field 5 in the Holly Section. Great location, bathrooms close by, good sun coverage with trees and open fields. Well kept park which is a great selection for a picnic!
