A small memorial.
Sep 2017 • Solo
This is the smallest veteran's memorial I have encountered, with a 40X40 wrought iron fence surrounding the entire park. In the center stands-I estimate to be 30 feet-a civil war monument with a north trooper atop. The monument has the battles of Gettysburg, the Wilderness, Antietam, Five Forks, Richmond, Petersburg, Cedar Creek & Cold Harbor listed on the sides.

Surrounding the monument are eleven flat memorial stones from the American revolution , Mexican, civil war, Wars ! & 11, Korea, Vietnam & Iraqi wars.

Small features are a 1898 47 MM USN Hotch Kiss revolving cannon, a monument to "PINK" the horse, which served the US army for 30 years, dying May 25, 1888 and a large stone that honors all those from Crown Point, NY, that serves their country to the cause of Freedom & Democracy.

Access is through two open gates, from & rear, with the front entrance having two new American flags.

The park is located just yards off Creek Road, with the closest landmark being the First Congregational Church, at 7 Park Avenue. The first time I drove by ending at ending at the end of Park Avenue & a small parking lot & walking across a park. Look for the park with several tall trees that surround the memorial.

The park is small, probably needing only needing 15 minutes to read & view all. I stopped on my way to two other sites in the Crown Point area. Being small doesn't mean the park isn't worth a stop. Possibly any person of history may enjoy a short visit.
